QA Engineer

Metal Toad is an award-winning AWS Consulting Partner and AWS Managed Services provider company based in the USA. We help our customers with their cloud adoption by providing architecture, migration, optimization, machine learning, and even 24x7 support. We are a professional services firm providing services in software engineering and the cloud. We do Technical consulting, Programming & Quality Assurance, DevOps, Applications, UX, Product management, and Project management.


Metal Toad is a fully remote organization with all employees having the option to work from home. The candidate must be able to work between 8 AM and 5 PM Pacific Time (PST) from Monday through Friday.


Advanced to fluent proficiency in English is a must for our positions since it is the language we communicate at the company.


Job Description


The QA Engineer ensures that we find problems before our clients do. You will work closely with your team members, practicing manual and automated testing, and driving innovation across the organization.  As a thought leader in the QA space, you make a true difference in how QA delivers and have a voice in our transition to CI practices.  You thrive on learning, innovating, and participating in the professional community.  As a QA Engineer, you will ensure high standards of quality and own all QA offerings and services by leading the quality initiatives and ensuring their marketability.  You will promptly and frequently escalate risks and known issues promptly and frequently, deliver quality releases to our clients, and collaborate with teams to guarantee the project's success. 

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with development team, Project Managers, and Technical Consultants to create and implement testing plan, mitigate bugs, and maintain project standards
  • Write and maintain automated tests for user stories and features throughout a project’s life cycle
  • Manual QA of developer work
  • Proactively communicate risks and issues as they become known, to both clients and team
  • Work independently, and have ownership over testing decisions and results
  • Advocate for solutions, and determine bugs’ severity
  • Ability to thrive working with Agile / SCRUM methodologies
  • Shares knowledge with company and community through blogging and/or meetups
  • Ensures tests adhere to accepted best practice guidelines, whether code-specific or framework-specific  


EXPERTISE

  • Researches new techniques, technologies, and ideas
  • Shares knowledge with development team, helping them understand testing strategies and general concepts
  • Makes recommendations and collaborates with colleagues (QA Engineers, Director of Technology) 


QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Believe in the company mission
  • 2+ years experience with automated test suites like Cypress
  • 3+ years experience with quality assurance
  • 1+ years of development experience
  • Ability to create and implement testing strategies for a variety of projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with full-stack testing
  • Working knowledge of CLI
  • Understanding of Git workflows and practices


Preferred

  • Experience working with SCRUM methodologies
  • Experience using / creating a Continuous Integration process
