Why this role exists
 
The Staff Accountant will play an essential role in the day-to-day accounting functions within Profound Research a Site Network in the Clinical Research industry. Reporting to the Senior Director of Accounting, this position is responsible for maintaining financial records, tracking the organizations assets, liabilities, profit and loss, assisting with monthly and annual close processes, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and have a strong understanding of accounting principles, particularly in the context of healthcare or related field.
 
 
 
Responsibilities
General Accounting:
o Assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
o Record daily financial transactions (AP, cash receipts, payroll, general ledger entries).
o Assist in reconciling sponsor payments / cash receipts.
o Assist with budget preparation and financial forecasting processes, providing insight into financial performance and helping management adjust strategies.
o Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, accounts receivable, payroll, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, and other financial accounts on a monthly basis.
o Create and maintain detailed process and procedure logs.

Financial Reporting:
o Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
o Assist in preparing internal financial reports for management to evaluate performance and make decisions.
o Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes.

Compliance & Regulatory Support:
o Assist in maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, and other relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
o Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and reports.

Special Projects & Ad-Hoc Analysis:
o Provide support in various ad-hoc projects and special analyses as needed by the accounting or finance department.
o Work in collaboration with outside accounting firms
o Other duties as assigned

Requirements
·       Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
·       At least 1-2 years of relevant accounting experience (preferably in healthcare or a similar industry).
·       Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
·       Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct, or similar).
·       Strong Excel skills, including the ability to create and manage spreadsheets, pivot tables, and reports, and the ability to decipher and manipulate complex formulas.
·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams.
·       Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in accounting.
 
Preferred Requirements
 
·       Knowledge of healthcare financial systems and industry regulations.
·       CPA or working towards CPA designation (a plus).
·       Experience with financial forecasting or analysis.
·       Experience working in clinical research.
- Exposure to corporate tax filings and best practices.
 
Travel Requirements
 
Less than 15% travel required.

Physical Requirements
·       Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, standing and walking.
·       Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
·       Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.
·       Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
·       Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and making fine discriminations in sound.
·       The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
