Job Overview:

Are you a detail-oriented accounting or finance student eager to gain real-world experience in payroll tax compliance? Our Payroll Tax Internship offers an exciting opportunity to work with complex tax regulations, research and respond to tax notices, and develop hands-on expertise in payroll processes—all from the comfort of your home.
As an intern, you will work closely with our payroll and finance team to analyze tax issues, ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and contribute to critical problem-solving initiatives. This role will provide invaluable exposure to real-world accounting and tax scenarios, helping you build the foundation for a successful career in accounting, payroll, or financial operations.

You will gain hands-on experience navigating payroll tax regulations, exposure to researching and resolving tax notices, collaboration with experienced professionals in the field and develop problem-solving and analytical skills. This position is a remote, flexible work schedule (25 hours per week).

Responsibilities:
  • Generate ADP payroll documents and tax reports and payments for federal & state and local jurisdictions
  • Track payroll tax deductions for reconciliation
  • Reconcile payroll tax deductions to filed reports for accuracy
  • Maintain deductions, tax rate and frequency
  • Execute and maintain Tax Notice resolution across all local, state, and federal jurisdictions.
  • Resolve payroll tax notice inquiries/issues
  • Research, resolution and follow up directly with ADP and taxing jurisdictions for tax notice resolution.
  • Monitor inquiries/issues to identify trends in payroll tax issue
  • Recommend and execute improvements to processes
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
  • Currently a junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field at a four year college or university.
  • Six (6) months experience working in a professional office environment. 
  • Able to work with complex tax regulations.
  • Able to research and respond to tax notices.
  • Able to maintain accurate customer files and communication logs.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to analyze payroll data.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.
