Job Title: Director of Operations - Practice Transformation (Remote Opportunity)

Description of Position: Surgery Partners is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Operations specializing in optimizing physician practices within our organization. Surgery Partners employes over 350 physicians and Advanced Practice Providers across the country.  The Director of Operations will execute a strategic “Practice Transformation” plan, adapting as internal and external environments shift.  This pivotal role involves overseeing and enhancing the operational efficiency, financial performance, and overall productivity of our physician practices. 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Assess potential practice acquisitions: Perform remote and on-site assessments of potential practice acquisitions. Uncover practice current performance strengths and opportunities through stakeholder interviews, in-depth analysis of available market, contract, and financial information, and process mapping. Determine Surgery Partners integration impact to future state entity and identify potential pitfalls.
  • Build and execute practice integration playbook: Create a core integration playbook to be used during acquisitions. This playbook should incorporate elements such as future state systems, technology, and interfaces, physician contracting models, staffing ratio guides, and workflow processes. Playbook will include general timeline for each integration activity, important interdependencies necessary to execute actions, and key stakeholders who will be involved to achieve integration goals. Playbook should contain appropriate guardrails, while also providing flexibility to meet market-specific, regulatory, and legal needs.
  • Onboard administrative and physician leaders: Ensure administrative and physician leaders are set up to succeed during the integration process. Communicate regularly with leaders to ensure challenges and barriers are addressed timely. Provide clear guidance on integration plans, explain the why behind decisions made, and meet agreed upon integration deadlines. Director will be seen as key conduit between local and corporate leadership.
  • Integration change management: Assess, plan, and execute change management strategies to minimize integration disruption to clinicians, business, and patients.
  • Performance monitoring: During and after practice integration, director will be responsible for monitoring integration performance to ensure synergy goals and timelines are met. Performance updates will be provided routinely to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Lead enterprise transformation projects: In addition to practice onboarding, director will be responsible for key operational, financial, and patient engagement practice transformation projects impacting all Surgery Partners’ practices.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in healthcare operations, with a focus on physician practice optimization
  • Experience in project management and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven track record of successfully improving operational efficiency and financial performance within healthcare settings

  • Ability to lead cross functional teams to execute on strategic and tactical initiatives, meeting or exceeding expected deadlines and performance metrics

  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, compliance requirements, and revenue cycle management.

  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and comfortable working in an environment with ambiguity

  • Proficiency in change management methodologies

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to organize, develop, and execute plans aligned with company objectives.

  • Proficiency in utilizing technology and data analytics for decision-making and process improvement.
