Our Team

Join our innovative Molex Transportation Solutions division as a Product Design Engineer, where you will play a crucial role in developing cutting-edge electronic, electrical, and fiber optic connectivity systems. With a diverse portfolio spanning industries such as data communications, medical, industrial, automotive, and consumer electronics, Molex provides a dynamic environment for you to drive the creation of new connectors, terminals, and radar sensors, as well as enhance existing products.

Based in the city of Zacoalco, Jalisco, this position offers a hybrid work option, allowing you to enjoy both the flexibility of remote work and the benefits of in-person collaboration.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams and global design centers, reporting to the Product Design Engineering Manager, to bring innovative concepts to life. Ideal candidates will have a strong attention to detail for managing engineering change requests and a collaborative spirit to support technical reviews with customers. If you are passionate about product design and eager to make an impact, we invite you to join our forward-thinking team.

What You Will Do:

  • Support documentation of project scope, requirements, feasibility studies, and engineering workplans while assisting in capturing and understanding customer needs to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Execute concept development activities to deliver manufacturable and cost-effective solutions that meet customer requirements, and develop mitigation plans for identified areas of risk.
  • Conduct DFMEA, FEAs, Tolerance Analysis, and other studies to ensure product reliability, and create product models and drawings using GD&T methodology for optimal dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Prepare and manage engineering change requests per document control procedures, and develop test plans (DVP&Rs) to validate product performance, analyzing test results with statistical methods.
  • Lead root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methods like 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone diagrams to address issues and improve product designs.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in automotive product design with a strong foundation in material mechanics and manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in engineering tools and processes, including GD&T methodology, DFMEA, FEA, Tolerance Analysis, and CAD software for creating product models and drawings.
  • Experience with statistical analysis methods such as Design of Experiments (DOEs), Hypothesis Testing, and Capability Studies, alongside expertise in structured problem-solving techniques like 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone analysis.
  • Experience in managing engineering timelines, escalate barriers, and drive projects to completion
  • Fluent English spoken and written.
  • Flexibility to travel approximately 10% of the time.

What Puts You Ahead:

  • 3 years of automotive product design experience, and a solid understanding of material mechanics and manufacturing processes like injection molding, over-molding, stamping, and plating.
  • Design connectors, headers, and radar sensors; create tolerance stack-up studies; implement engineering changes; execute project transfers; and interpret product specifications for validation plans.
  • Proficiency in GD&T for 3D modeling, DFMEA, and computational tools such as Microsoft Office, CAD (NX or similar), and Minitab.
  • Experience in application of international quality systems (IATF, ISO, TS) and familiarity with processes such as Advanced Planning of the Quality of a Product (APQP) and Approval Process for the Production Part (PPAP).
