Overview
LIXIL, the maker of pioneering water and housing products, announced the establishment of LIXIL Public Partners (LPP), the company’s first dedicated public sector engagement platform, in June 2022. This newly created organization will explore synergies and expand collaboration with the public sector for the delivery of innovative household solutions in water, sanitation, and hygiene. LPP will develop business strategies and operating models designed to serve the mutual interests of global partners and LIXIL by introducing innovative products, solutions, and services for improved access to water, sanitation, and hygiene globally.
The LPP engineering team is pursuing innovative product and technology development in wastewater treatment and water reuse systems to solve the global sanitation challenge and contribute to achieving one of the three core pillars of LIXIL's Impact Strategy: Global Sanitation and Hygiene.
This product design engineer has a critical role within the team as a lead module developer, developing initial concepts, prototyping, testing, and commercial production engineering for the innovative product launch. This position requires conceptual and hands-on development skills and collaboration with LPP engineering teams, LIXIL International R&D, and external technology partners.
Responsibilities
Reinvented toilet development, lead module developer
- Become a team member of the “Reinvented Toilet” project, one of LIXIL's priority innovation topics, and conduct designing, prototyping, and evaluation as a lead module developer for key solid and liquid treatment units. Leverage engineering knowledge and experience while executing engineering tasks within projects to meet target specifications, costs, and timelines.
Solving technical challenges in the field
- Solve problems caused by engineering issues that occur during field tests and pilots, and achieve safe and continuous operations.
- Lead continues quality improvement activities during the development.
New technology research and evaluation
- Conduct research and evaluation of competing products and new technologies related to wastewater treatment and water reuse, and perform product improvements and new technology development for the future.
Qualifications
- University degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- More than 3 years of extensive working experience in Engineering, Product development
- Experience as the product development lead and product launch experience
- Skilled practitioner in CREO or equivalent 3D modelling software and PLM
- Manage project timelines by leveraging internal and external partners throughout the entire product development cycle
- Analytical with a focus on problem-solving and structured approaches
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Plastic Injection Molded, die cast, and sheet metal part design experience
- QA, product validation skills
- Must be onsite two to three days a week in the New Jersey office.
- Travel: 5% of time. Domestic US travel anticipated (approximately 1x quarterly).
Hiring Range
The Hiring Salary Range for Piscataway, NJ is: $64,000- $104,000 annually.
(Salary offer to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
Other Compensation (if applicable): This role will be eligible to participate in the annual Short Term Incentive plan.
