Position Description

The Area Business Manager – East Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Burundi, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia) is responsible for managing and developing commercial partner relationships across multiple markets within the region. This role will drive sales growth, ensure market penetration, and provide technical and commercial support to commercial partners in the Research, Clinical, Forensics molecular field. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in molecular sciences, commercial partner management, and regional sales strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Distributor Management & Sales Growth:

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to drive revenue growth in East Africa.
  • Identify, appoint, and manage commercial partners, ensuring they align with company goals and values.


Market Expansion & Strategy Development:

  • Identify new market opportunities and work closely with distributors to maximize market penetration.
  • Develop pricing strategies and ensure competitive positioning in the region.


Commercial Support:

  • Facilitate and manage enrolment training for commercial partners and their sales teams on product applications, technical specifications, and market positioning.
  • Ensure commercial partners have adequate knowledge and resources to effectively promote molecular diagnostic products with both research and clinical market segments.


Regulatory & Compliance Oversight:

  • Ensure commercial partners comply with local regulations and company policies regarding product distribution.
  • Assist in obtaining product registrations and approvals where necessary.


Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in distributor management, sales, or business development within the molecular diagnostics or medical devices industry.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing multiple markets.
  • Strong understanding of molecular diagnostic technologies, applications, and competitive landscape.
  • Experience working in East Africa, with knowledge of regional market dynamics.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively within the region (50-70%)
