Job description

The Associate Counsel provides substantive support to the Legal & Compliance Department, working primarily with the Commercial Contracting team in drafting and negotiating contracts.  This individual is a forward-thinking professional who is ready and able to exercise independent judgment in contract reviews, think creatively, and work well with internal and external customers.  

Essential Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Drafting and negotiation of company contracts, including client agreements and marketing agreements 
  • Providing legal support on various company projects and initiatives 
  • Providing general legal support for company operations, such as researching and analyzing federal and state laws related to the healthcare/pharmacy industry, commercial contracts, and business transactions
  • All other duties as assigned

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Juris Doctorate, and active State Bar Certification. 
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a relevant legal field. 
  • Contract drafting and negotiation experience required.
  • Demonstrated competence in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint required. 
  • Must have excellent legal research and writing, organizational, teamwork and communications skills. 
  • Demonstrated dedication to a high level of client service, sound business and legal judgment and ability to determine priorities to meet deadlines in a dynamic. environment.
  • Self-motivation and attention to detail. 
  • Must have the ability to take ownership and prioritize multiple competing projects. 

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Experience with healthcare law, including HIPAA.
  • Experience with the pharmacy and/or medical benefits industry.

Based on relevant market data and other factors, the anticipated hiring range for this role is $115,200 - $135,000 annually. Final compensation rates will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, and internal equity considerations. This role is also short-term incentive eligible. Incentive amounts will vary by individual and business goals.
