Project Overview

The company is transitioning from a slow, traditional database to a high-speed, scalable data warehouse that can handle large data processing needs. The current infrastructure has limitations, such as long processing times (30+ minutes for critical queries) and a lack of integration with AI and BI tools.

The new data architecture will:

  • Redesign the database to improve speed, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Migrate to a modern, elastic data warehouse that can handle dynamic workloads.
  • Enable seamless data integration for AI and BI teams using Databricks.
  • Improve data cleansing and transformation to ensure accurate and accessible data.
  • Support business intelligence tools such as Tableau and Power BI
What You’ll Do:
  • Redesign and optimize database architecture to support scalable data processing.
  • Build and manage ETL pipelines to clean, transform, and integrate data from multiple sources.
  • Develop and maintain data models for AI and BI teams.
  • Work with Azure technologies including Databricks, SQL Server, CosmosDB, and Spark.
  • Improve data processing speeds by optimizing queries and database structures.
  • Ensure data governance, security, and best practices for storage and processing.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into solutions.
  • Work closely with the lead architect to execute the company’s data vision
  • Execute DBA tasks as needed


About You:

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of professional experience in data engineering, database development, or data warehousing.
  • Strong experience with SQL development and database administration.
  • Demonstrated, hands-on experience with ETL pipelines, data cleansing, and transformation.
  • Proficiency in Python for data processing and automation, data cleansing.
  • Demonstrated experience with Azure technologies (Databricks, MS SQL Server).
  • Experience in data warehouse architecture and scalable data solutions.
  • Familiarity with BI tools like Tableau and Power BI.
  • Willingness to execute DBA tasks as needed
  • C1+ English Proficiency

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Databricks Certification (e.g., Databricks Data Engineer Associate/Professional).
  • Experience in data warehouse architecture and scalable data solutions.
  • Knowledge of big data processing frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills for complex problem-solving
  • Willing to commute to the client office in Guadalajara, Mexico every few months

Operating Rhythm:
This is a remote position out of any of the following locales: Costa Rica, Mexico, Uruguay Colombia, El Salvador, and Uruguay

  2. 10-minute Q&A with Recruiter 
  3. 1st round technical interview with member of Engineering team (1 hour - Zoom)
  4. 2nd round interview with Principal member of Engineering team( 1 hour - Zoom)
  5. Client round technical interview with Data Architect (1 hour - Zoom)
