Job description

This is a remote, home-based internship. Full time students from all US geographies will be considered. Our 2025 Summer internship program is an 8-week Paid Internship that runs from June 2nd – July 25th, at 37.5 hours weekly. The program will join interns across the country who are supporting different department focuses on American Cancer Society and ACS's Cancer Action Network. 80% of the time will be in working within the given department, with the Intern's manager, their mentor, and the team. The other 20% will be with a cohort of other interns around American Cancer Society and ACS CAN.

As a Data Engineering Intern, you will collaborate closely with our Data and Analytics team to design, build, and optimize data pipelines and integrations using our modern tech stack of Python, Go, Perfect, dbt, Snowflake, and Azure. You will gain hands-on experience working with large-scale data systems and cloud platforms, assisting in the development and maintenance of high-quality data solutions that drive insights and support business objectives. This internship offers the opportunity to grow your technical skills, learn industry best practices, and contribute to impactful projects in a fast-paced, supportive environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior data engineers to develop and maintain end-to-end data pipelines using Python, Go, and Perfect.
  • Assist in building and managing data models with dbt to ensure clean, reliable, and accessible datasets.
  • Work with cloud services on Azure to deploy, monitor, and optimize data workflows.
  • Support the integration and management of data within Snowflake, including schema design and performance tuning.
  • Learn how to conduct data quality checks, troubleshoot technical issues, and propose improvements to ensure data integrity.
  • Document processes, maintain code repositories, and contribute to knowledge-sharing within the data team.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be available for entirety of 8-week program: June 2 – July 25, 2025, at 37.5 hours per week.
  • Full-time student, if you are an undergraduate student, you have completed your freshman year of college.
  • Have a minimum of a B average (cumulative 3.0 on 4.0 scale);
  • Plan to continue your education in the following term/semester;
  • Upload a resume upon application submission.
  • Note: an internship assignment may coincide with your last term/trimester as a full-time student, but the internship must be disengaged upon graduation.

The rate for this position is $20/hour. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
