Job description

Allianz Benelux is looking for an ambitious controller/actuary aiming to accelerate their career by building bridges between Finance and the business.

Who are we?

The Performance & Steering (P&S) team sits within Allianz Benelux’s Finance Department, and is responsible for analysing & interpreting the various KPIs needed to steer Allianz’s business lines in the Benelux region. As such, we are a key business partner for all users of these figures, engaging with stakeholders including regional Board members such as CEO and CFO, likewise with the Chief Investment Officer, Chief Product Officer, Chief Risk Officer and our Group headquarters in Munich. This role sits within the Life Performance & Steering team, which together with similar teams for P&C, Cost, and Consolidation comprises the broader P&S team.

Your responsibilities:

  • Transversal (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg) steering of Allianz Benelux’s Life KPIs, in particular IFRS17 P&L, IFRS17 CSM, New Business Margins, and Return-on-Equity.
  • Comfortable switching between multiple accounting regimes and translating the key concepts to provide business-relevant insights for C-suite members.
  • Actively manage all contributors involved in producing the Life P&L (both Actual & Planned), thus ensuring timeliness & quality of delivery.
  • Streamline less efficient processes / introduce more digital tooling & mindset within the team.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a dynamic & self-starting individual who will monitor/steer the financials of the Life business, proactively initiating ad-hoc analyses & deep-dives on any areas of the portfolio exhibiting deviations vs plan. Being capable of organizing and leading ad-hoc squads on a project basis to facilitate these deep-dives to increase insights. With the results of such analyses, you will challenge relevant business owners in order to ensure the appropriate remediation/optimization actions are taken. Another key responsibility will be leading the annual Life financial planning exercise, translating the business plans intro concrete financial impacts that are aligned with Allianz Group.

Given that IFRS17 has placed actuarial concepts at the heart of Life insurance reporting, we expect you to have a strong & proven track record in Actuarial or similar work. You must be comfortable articulating & explaining the differences in balance sheet and P&L between the various applicable accounting norms (IFRS17, Solvency II, local GAAP) and understand the business implications of the accounting choices taken.

Excellent communication skills are a must-have, as you will need to build & maintain strong relationships with colleagues from outside of Finance, including C-suite members, who will often have a less technical background. You will furthermore be required to present financial results to a senior (CFO / Group) audience in periodic closing calls.

In addition, you will need to drive the continuous refinement / automation / simplification of the various reporting processes in your scope.

Your profile:

  • Have a Master’s degree in actuarial, finance, econometrics/statistics or in another relevant field.
  • +10-year experience in Controlling / Actuarial / Risk.
  • Experience of IFRS17.
  • Be able to manage different stakeholders (from C-suite to your direct colleagues).
  • Communicate fluently in English, and preferably also in French and/or Dutch.
  • Have the intrinsic drive and skills to work with a very talented team of individuals in an international environment.

What we offer

  • A good marked-based salary with excellent secondary conditions.
  • Development opportunities:
    • We have a proven track record of rapidly promoting internal talent: are you our next Head of Controlling, Chief Accountant, Chief Actuary or Chief Risk Officer?
    • We have a strong focus on internal mobility within the Allianz Group. Current/recent Finance colleagues have worked for Allianz entities in Munich, Singapore, and Paris amongst other locations
    • You will interact directly with Board-level stakeholders, giving you the chance to showcase your work and your abilities
    • You get access to our Allianz’ global Finance community with leadership / expert classes
  • An engaging and diverse team of experts spread out over the Benelux region (and also the Allianz Service Centre in Romania)
  • Freedom
    • to determine where & when you work – output driven.
    • to pursue innovative and creative solutions – solution driven
    • to take risks / make mistakes and learn from them – growth driven
    • to challenge status quo and drive positive changes – Improvement driven
