Job description

Spacelift is an infrastructure orchestration platform that manages your entire infrastructure lifecycle — provisioning, configuration and governance. Spacelift integrates with all your infrastructure tooling (e.g. Terraform, OpenTofu, CloudFormation, Pulumi, Ansible) to provide a single integrated workflow so you can deliver secure, cost-effective, and resilient infrastructure, fast.

By automating deployment and configuration, providing developer self-service, golden paths with guardrails, and an OPA policy engine, Spacelift empowers businesses to accelerate developer velocity while maintaining control and governance over their infrastructure. Spacelift offers unrivaled support, no-nonsense pricing, and a range of deployment models to fit your specific needs.

Spacelift was founded in 2020 by long-time DevOps practitioner Marcin Wyszynski and successful entrepreneur Pawel Hytry and has raised $31.3M in funding over three rounds from top venture capital firms including Insight Partners, Blossom Capital, Hoxton Ventures, and Inovo Venture partners.

We are looking for a business-oriented and proactive Legal Counsel to join our growing legal team in a fast-scaling tech company. In this role, you will work closely with colleagues across different departments, providing hands-on legal support for sales, marketing, HR, finance, compliance, and privacy matters.

Your mission is to ensure legal security while enabling business growth, and helping to navigate complex regulations, contract negotiations, and internal governance.

About the role

  • Manage contract templates (draft, update, and implement processes for effective use).

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of complex agreements.

  • Support the sales team in contract negotiations, risk assessment, and strategic decision-making.

  • Assist the finance team with contract-related debt recovery and risk mitigation.

  • Oversee compliance, privacy, and regulatory matters, ensuring adherence to applicable laws.

  • Monitor new regulations and proactively update internal policies and business practices.

  • Support HR and internal governance, contributing to policies, employment-related legal matters, and training.

  • Provide quick, practical, and commercially focused legal advice to all teams.

  • Act as a trusted business partner for different teams, ensuring legal and compliance needs are met.

  • Draft internal policies and guidelines tailored to different departments.

  • Develop training materials and workshops on key legal, compliance, and privacy topics.

About You

  • Law degree and at least 3 years of experience as an in-house legal counsel.

  • Proven ability to review, draft, and negotiate contracts in English, ideally in a digital/tech environment.

  • Experience in contract management, compliance, and privacy matters.

  • Strong problem-solving skills: You combine legal expertise with a business mindset to find practical solutions.

  • Excellent analytical skills: You love diving into regulations, anticipating risks, and identifying strategic opportunities.

  • Proactive and hands-on: You take ownership, prioritize effectively, and get things done.

  • Empathetic and collaborative: You understand business needs and work as a partner to enable growth.

  • Fluency in English is a must.

  • Hands-on: You take initiative, you are not afraid to do it yourself based on priorities and results.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience working with U.S. law or international legal frameworks.

  • Previous experience in a scale-up or tech environment.

  • Comfort working in a global, multicultural setting.
