Role Purpose:
As a Communications & Marketing Associate, you will play a key role in enhancing the company’s visibility and reputation through strategic communications, public relations, stakeholder engagement, and digital marketing.
This role will work across both the communications and marketing functions, supporting public affairs, content development, media relations, and digital campaigns. You will collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to execute marketing and communication strategies that engage key audiences and drive impact. Reporting to both the Director of Communications and the Associate Director of Marketing, you’ll gain broad exposure and hands-on experience in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
A Day in the Life:
Corporate Communications – Support the execution of corporate communications strategies, crafting messaging for digital and traditional media.
Media Relations – Assist in drafting press releases, coordinating with PR agencies, and monitoring media trends to enhance brand awareness.
Content & Digital Marketing – Develop engaging content and campaigns across marketing platforms and internal communications.
Stakeholder & External Engagement – Support stakeholder communications, coordinate external engagements, draft briefing documents, and assist with public relations activities.
Event Support – Assist in the planning and execution of conferences, events, and campaigns, including logistics coordination and promotional materials.
Marketing Research & Insights – Conduct market research to analyse trends, competitor activity, and audience engagement, translating insights into actionable recommendations.
Marketing & Communications Admin – Provide ongoing support in administrative tasks such as subscription management, contracting, logistics, and coordinating speaking events.
Who You Are
Strong written communication skills, with the ability to create clear, engaging, and concise content.
Ability to translate complex scientific and business concepts into accessible messaging for diverse audiences.
Detail-oriented, able to juggle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook) and digital marketing tools (Mailchimp).
Enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to learn in an evolving industry.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):
Experience in content creation, creative writing, blogging, or journalism.
Knowledge of media relations, public affairs, or UK political landscape.
Experience using a CMS (especially Webflow).
Basic skills in video editing (Adobe Premiere), graphic design (Figma, Illustrator), or print software (InDesign).
Familiarity with the science, healthcare, or technology sectors.
Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or apprenticeship in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Politics, or a Science-related field (or equivalent experience).
Previous experience in communications and marketing.
Strong writing skills, adaptable to a range of formats.
Interest in UK media, policy, and engagement with journalists and policymakers.
