Job description

The Vacancy

Principal ICA Engineer

Job Role:

  • Develop and refine ICA Template and Detailed Designs for AMP8, ensuring they meet technical, regulatory, and performance requirements.
  • Ensure the right technical requirements are fed into the Project Technical Template ICA designs.
  • Lead, mentor and develop others undertaking ICA template design engineering
  • Reviewing and approving ICA designs to ensure compliance with Thames Water engineering best practices, industry standards, and safety protocols.
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing team members in ICA template design engineering, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Undertaking ancillary Instrument and Electrical design for ICA panels, including expertise in PLC, I/O, UPS, and Electrical SLD / LVDB design capabilities, while maintaining high standards of functionality, operability and reliability.
  • Lead the optimisation of control panel design engineering, ensuring the development of standardised templates that deliver efficient, cost-effective, and durable solutions, enhancing the performance and reliability of Thames Water’s infrastructure.


Work will be home based / visiting sites & offices in the Thames region.
