The role

Valtech is looking to hire a Senior AI Data Engineer. Ideal candidates will have strong quantitative backgrounds and analytical discipline. While they will have some demonstrated ability to write code, they will not have learned programming languages for the sake of building their resume, but rather as a means to express their intellectual curiosity and analytical voice. Valtech will provide a platform and training to help them reach their full potential.

Role responsibilities

Design and manage APIs (e.g., API Gateway, OAS, Backstage) for effective data and model deployment
Design and implement data models to support generative AI products
Collaborate with stakeholders, providing recommendations on data model improvements, API design, and general engineering best practices

Minimum qualifications

Strong API development experience, including designing and managing APIs for AI applications
Deep understanding of AWS services, particularly Lambda, Step Functions, and DynamoDB
Expertise in data modeling for structured and unstructured datasets
Proficiency in Python, SQL, and TypeScript (or willingness to learn TypeScript)
Creative thinker, optimistic attitude and tenacious curiosity
Strong attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication

Preferred qualifications

Experience working in an Agile Scrum development environment, or in a consulting capacity
Familiarity with AWS Amplify, Sandboxes, and CI/CD tools like CircleCI
Familiarity with monitoring and logging solutions, such as Datadog, for tracking system performance
Certifications in Google (Professional Data Engineer) or Microsoft (Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure AI Engineer Associate)
