A Senior Editor leads the assembly of compelling, audience-appropriate, multi-channel, contemporary media that engages and builds relationships with target audiences, including prospective students, current students, alumni and partners. An individual collaborates with creative partners in concept creation, including sound design, music edit and sound mix, through finish stages to produce authentic and inspiring creative for University of Phoenix. A Senior Editor technically troubleshoots any production and post-production solutions to deliver projects on-time while maintaining the highest quality bar.
W Hat You’ll Do
Contribute to storytelling by making editorial choices that enhance pacing, structure, and emotional impact.
Work collaboratively with directors, producers, and other creative team members to assemble raw footage and other assets into polished, impactful final cuts.
Work within tight deadlines, ensuring that edits are completed on time and adhere to project specifications.
Collaborate with creative partners in working edit sessions to prepare videos for creative reviews.
Adhere to proper file management techniques to ensure efficient archiving and subsequent retrieval of projects for compliance.
Continuously improve by learning and adapting to new techniques, software updates, and emerging post-production trends.
Mentor junior team members, review their work, and provide constructive feedback to ensure quality and consistency.
Participate, outside of regular business hours, to support projects, when necessary, that will include occasional travel.
Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

Minimum Education And Related Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree in film, media arts, or a related field and six (6) years of professional experience as an editor in a marketing department, ad agency, freelance, and/or post-production house
OR an equivalent combination of education and job-related experience where one (1) year of relevant experience can replace every one (1) year of post-secondary education.
A portfolio reel showcasing high-quality work in digital content such as broadcast commercials and social media that include the following skills:
Expertise in industry-standard editing software (e.g. Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve)
A strong sense of narrative structure, rhythm, and pacing, along with an understanding of visual storytelling and cinematography principles
Ability to troubleshoot technical issues in post-production and make on-the-fly adjustments to ensure high standards of quality
Exceptional communication skills, with experience working in high-pressure environments and collaborating effectively with directors, producers, and other key stakeholders
Strong organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality
Additional Qualifications
Familiarity with color grading concepts within DaVinci Resolve Studio
Familiarity with VFX (paint-outs, keying) workflows.
Sound mixing and audio cleanup skills (Audition, Pro Tools and Izotope familiarity)
