Job Summary:
The Level 2 Technical Engineer provides mid-level technical support for customers leveraging HP GreenLake and hybrid cloud solutions. This role focuses on troubleshooting escalated issues, maintaining critical infrastructure systems, and ensuring seamless operation across on-prem and cloud environments. The engineer serves as both a technical resource and customer-facing professional, ensuring that issues are resolved promptly, documentation is clear, and service quality remains high. A commitment to proactive support, continuous learning, and collaboration with higher-tier engineers is essential.
Core Responsibilities:
Customer Support & Ticket Ownership:
• Deliver L2 technical support for HP GreenLake and related infrastructure technologies, including escalated incidents and service requests.
• Ensure customer tickets are documented, resolved efficiently, and closed with clear communication and resolution notes.
• Set realistic expectations with customers and communicate proactively throughout the resolution process.
• Escalate complex or critical issues to L3 engineers with detailed documentation and context.
Infrastructure & Systems Administration:
• Install, configure, and manage physical and virtual servers running Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016, 2019, 2022, and various Linux distributions (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS).
• Administer and support modern virtualization platforms, including VMware vSphere / ESXi 6.5 through 8.x and vCenter Server.
• Provide support for Hyper-V environments as needed.
Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure:
• Support and maintain environments across public (AWS, Azure) and private cloud platforms.
• Assist with hybrid cloud connectivity, identity federation, and workload migrations.
• Perform basic cloud resource provisioning, cost management, and security policy enforcement.
Storage Management:
• Configure and manage enterprise storage solutions, including SAN and NAS systems, ensuring optimal performance, redundancy, and data integrity.
• Monitor storage capacity and plan for scaling or reallocation as needed.
Backup & Disaster Recovery:
• Design, implement, and regularly test backup solutions and disaster recovery (DR) procedures.
• Verify backup integrity, automate job monitoring, and document recovery plans for critical systems.
Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing:
• Interface regularly with customer technical and business teams to provide insight and support.
• Act as an internal escalation point and knowledge contributor for L1 staff.
• Work closely with Level 3 engineers on major incidents and projects.
Skills & Experience:
Required:
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016, 2019, and 2022
• Deep experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi (6.5 – 8.x), and vCenter
• Working knowledge of Linux OS administration
• Familiarity with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and clustering
• Experience in Cloud administration (AWS and/or Azure)
• Solid troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
• Strong communication and customer service focus
Preferred:
• Experience supporting Hyper-V environments
• Familiarity with Scripting or automation tools (PowerShell, Bash, etc.)
• Understanding of hybrid IT environments and connectivity models
Certifications (Preferred):
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
• Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Azure Administrator Associate
