Job description

We are seeking a Senior Control Specialist to perform control accounting and auditing functions on various operational accounts, involving analysis, problem-solving, communication, and resolution.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Conduct accounting, reconciliation, and auditing for various JH Life, LTC, and Annuity accounts, ensuring all functions are performed accurately.

  • Analyze and investigate outstanding variances or issues to resolve discrepancies promptly and maintain the integrity of account balances.

  • Maintain traceability of research efforts and provide detailed monthly analysis of outstanding balances, ensuring suspense balances are within corporate standards.

  • Collaborate with operations staff to identify discrepancies, clear items efficiently, and prepare necessary journal entries to resolve any issues.

  • Perform reconciliations at required frequencies, escalate any variances and open items in suspense accounts, and address other reconciliation tasks as needed.

  • Maintain procedures and documentation as directed, and participate in ad-hoc projects as assigned to support overall operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years related work experience in accounting and the financial services

  • Knowledge of general accounting principles

  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact both verbally and in writing

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and solve complex transactions / situations

  • Effective communication and writing skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Attention to detail and accuracy are critical in completing tasks

  • Ability to prioritize and work effectively in a deadline-oriented environment

  • Ability to learn new technologies and tools quickly and work effectively in a changing environment

  • Ability to maintain accounting procedures and documentation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College/University graduate preferably major in Accounting, CPA

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Comprehensive product knowledge

  • Experience working with or within Insurance Operations

Salary range is expected to be between

$47,775.00 USD - $79,625.00 USD
