Job Description Summary:
The Patient Engagement Liaison is a field-based position that supports those living with rare diseases, their caregivers and rare disease patient advocacy organizations. In this role, you will be at the heart of PTC’s efforts to connect with and support rare disease communities. This role will primarily support the Phenylketonuria (PKU), Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), Friedreich's Ataxia (FA) and Aromatic L-Amino Acid Decarboxylase (AADC) Deficiency communities and may also include other communities in therapeutic areas of interest to PTC.

Responsibilities:
- Engages with the rare disease community, including patient advocacy organizations, to better understand the rare experience and incorporate those insights throughout PTC.
- Collaborate internally with other PTC teams to help identify, educate, build, and leverage relationships with those living with rare diseases, their caregivers, and Patient Advocacy Organizations.
- If appropriate, assist the community with resources to help remove access barriers to help gain coverage for marketed products.
- Build patient advocacy and community relationships for currently marketed product disease states and those in development, consistent with applicable regulations.
- Works cross functionally with medical, communications, commercial, legal and compliance colleagues to ensure country specific guidelines, standards and regulations are followed.
- Connect families to Patient Advocacy Organizations and resources.
- Develop, plan and execute educational programs for those living with rare diseases and their caregivers.
- Supports Patient Advocacy Organizations through shared interests in education and programs
- Work with the rare disease community to advocate for access to care and therapies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related clinical or scientific discipline including, but not limited to nursing, public health, social work, nutrition, dietetics.
- 4 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, advocacy, medical, or related field.
- Experience supporting people with rare diseases, their caregivers and advocacy organizations.
- An empathetic and compassionate person that can relate to rare families and their challenges.
- Understanding healthcare, specialty pharmacy, pharma, and biotech industry.
- Maintenance of all compliance rules and confidentiality.
- Demonstrated leadership working as part of cross functional teams.
- History of building and maintaining strong relationships, internally and externally.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and zoom.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, as well as presentation skills, including the ability to explain technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced matrixed team environment consisting of internal and external members.
- An analytical thinker with excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent planning, organization and time management skills.
- Ability to enter data quickly, confidentially and accurately into CRM.
* Special knowledge or skills and/or licenses preferred
- Registered Dietitian or other Medical Professional with a focus on metabolic health is preferred
- Bilingual/Spanish speaking preferred, but not necessary.
Travel requirements: Up to 75% of domestic travel, including overnights, weekends and evening responsibilities as needed. Potential for international travel as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Field-based position located in the continental US, with easy access to a major airline travel hub. Travel as required: driving, airline, and/or public transportation.
- Ability to travel extensively throughout assigned territory, country and potentially globally.
Expected Base Salary Range:
$120,000 - $143,000. The base salary offered will be contingent on assessment of candidate education level, background, and experience relative to the requirements of the position they are being considered for, as well as review of internal equity.
In addition to base salary, PTC employees are also eligible for short- and long-term incentives. All eligible employees may also enroll in PTC’s medical, dental, vision, and retirement savings plans.
