Greenbox Capital is looking for an experienced underwriter that will be responsible for identifying, gathering, and analyzing relevant information to assess credit risk, determine sources of repayment, decline applications, and ensure compliance with applicable credit policies, procedures, and the company's risk philosophy in an effort to mitigate loss. 

 

Key Responsibilities:   

  • Conduct detailed credit evaluations, including reviewing bank statements, tax returns, financial statements, and conducting merchant interviews, to assess merchant creditworthiness and clear any risk flags. 
  • Perform thorough business research, including reviewing reputational websites for positive or negative reviews. and clear any risk flags. 
  • Utilize available tools and resources to identify and address red flags or potential fraud. 
  • Communicate with ISOs, internal teams, and merchants via written and verbal channels to ensure timely decisions and meet deadlines. Resolve conflicts as needed to maintain smooth operations.

 

Reports to: Senior Director of Underwriting 

Interacts with: Underwriting and Sales departments 

Travel required: No 

Location: Remote 

 

Education and Functional Experience   

  • Bachelor’s degree   
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar underwriting role.  
  • Strong proficiency in MS office (assessment part of the interview process) 
  • Experience in working in Salesforce.  

 

Behavioral/Skill Requirements 

  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills and the ability to make informed, data-driven decisions with high attention to detail. 
  • Expertise in conducting merchant interviews and evaluating the creditworthiness of small and medium-sized businesses. 
  • Proficient in both written and verbal communication, including active listening, note-taking, and articulating findings clearly. 
  • In-depth understanding of underwriting principles, credit risk assessment, and cash flow analysis. 
  • Continuously monitors industry trends and competitor offerings, recommending process improvements and innovative solutions in a fast-paced, evolving market. 

 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)  

  • Productivity- Consistently archiving monthly quota – Total assigned files are within 80% of the top producer for the month.  
  • Default/Loss Rates – Must maintain default and loss rates within an acceptable range for default and loss targets.   
  • Error Rate – Must keep error rate below the acceptable range.
