About the Ethereum Foundation and EFI

The Ethereum Foundation (EF) is a global non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Ethereum and related technologies. Our mission is to do what is best for Ethereum’s long-term success. Our role is to allocate resources to critical projects, to be a valued voice within the Ethereum ecosystem, and to advocate for Ethereum to the outside world.

The Ecosystem Funding Initiative (EFI) is a team within the EF that ideates and coordinates collaborative funding efforts for the Ethereum ecosystem, with the aim of building sustainable and diversified funding models for Ethereum public goods.

Examples of EFI's recent contributions include supporting the fundraising efforts for ecosystem organizations such as powdr and the DRC, as well as coordinating the collaborative ecosystem funding efforts of initiatives like the Pectra audit competition, the Ethereum Protocol Attackathon, and the ZK grants round.

Your Mission

As Collaborative Funding Coordinator, it will be your responsibility to help secure funding for a range of Ethereum public goods, through assistance for individual projects and facilitation of collaborative grants rounds. You will work closely both with other EF internal teams and with external teams and projects in the Ethereum ecosystem. You will scout the ecosystem landscape for opportunities and build up all necessary relationships and infrastructure to coordinate the funding efforts.

Core Responsibilities
  • Build, design, and execute on collaborative ecosystem fundraising strategies, focusing on no-strings attached grant funding and donations:
  • Maintain a fundraising database and monitor the funding landscape for donations and grant opportunities

  • Build and cultivate meaningful relationships with relevant people and organizations in the ecosystem:
  • Manage connections with key stakeholders of other (public goods funding) organizations
  • Identify shared pain points, share learnings, understand funding patterns and preferences

  • Support collaborative ecosystem grants and funding rounds hands-on as the coordinator:
  • Work with teams and initiatives to scope the respective funding initiatives, this can include creating informational materials, pitch decks, grants round specifications
  • Identify the right parties for each initiative and develop a funding framework
  • Connect initiatives with respective funders and either drive or support the fundraising efforts

  • Required Skills & Experience
  • Professional experience in (public goods/grants) fundraising
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills and experience in setting up and managing CRMs
  • Good understanding of the Ethereum space, existing relationships with key stakeholders required for this role
  • Experience owning, supporting, or otherwise collaborating on projects with technical stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Nice-to-haves
  • Proven track record of meaningful engagement with open-source communities
  • Understanding of public goods funding mechanisms in the blockchain space (retroactive public goods funding, quadratic funding, DAO grants processes, et al.) and beyond
