On behalf of our client, Asahi Europe & International, GT is looking for a Data Governance Lead.

About the Role

The Data Governance Lead is a pivotal role within the AEI Data & Analytics (D&A) organization, responsible for establishing a comprehensive data governance and security strategy. This role will drive the strategic direction of Asahi data initiatives, ensuring data quality, consistency, and security to enable informed decision-making and achieve strategic organizational objectives.

Responsibilities:
  1. Strategy & Compliance:

    • Develop and lead a data governance strategy ensuring data quality, consistency, security, and regulatory compliance.

    • Establish and enforce policies, adapting to industry standards and evolving regulations.

    • Implement monitoring systems to track compliance, identify risks, and drive continuous improvement.

  2. Data Governance, Quality & Security:

    • Oversee master data management, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and reliability.

    • Monitor data quality across transactional and analytical systems to uphold high standards.

    • Optimize self-service analytics while maintaining governance and security controls.

    • Enforce robust security and monitor access management to protect sensitive information.

  3. Stakeholder Management & Communication:

    • Collaborate with senior and executive stakeholders to drive alignment on data governance strategy.

    • Act as a trusted advisor, translating complex technical concepts into actionable insights.

    • Lead communication and training initiatives to ensure stakeholders understand their roles in maintaining governance standards.

  4. Leadership & Team Development:

    • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing data governance team.

    • Ensure quality assurance across all governance activities and build expertise within the team.

  5. Thought Leadership & Innovation:

    • Provide industry insights on best practices, emerging trends, and innovative approaches.

    • Shape the strategic direction of data governance to align with broader business objectives.

Essential knowledge, skills & experience:
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field.

  • Proven track record of leading and implementing data governance programs in a complex organizational environment.

  • Experience in developing and maintaining data governance frameworks, policies, and standards. Demonstrated success in driving data quality and integrity initiatives.

  • Proficiency in data governance and MDM tools and technologies, such as Semarchy, Cluedin, Stibo, SAP MDG, Purview, Alation, or similar platforms.

    • Strong understanding of data management practices, including master data management (MDM), data lineage, metadata management, data quality management, and data stewardship.

    • Expertise with data quality monitoring behind transactional data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.

  • Knowledge of data and analytics product certification processes to ensure data products meet quality and governance standards.

  • Experience in promoting self-service delivery of data and analytics while maintaining governance and security controls.

  • Strong understanding of data security and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and their implications for data governance.

  • Experience with data integration, ETL processes, and database management systems.

  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP), or similar are highly desirable.
