Job Description:
Working in close collaboration with communication director and managers, this individual is responsible for writing, researching, and developing content or messaging in support of Essentia Health’s strategic communication goals.
Based on experience and expertise, communication specialists may perform a variety of duties including but not limited to: proactively identify, analyze, and plan communication responses to potential or emerging issues, building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external partners, collaborating across teams and functions to manage content on Essentia Health’s internal and external webpages as reliable resources for all staff and patients, anticipate and mitigate external communications challenges, and other tactical execution in support of the strategic communication plans.
Works with employees across the organization to gather and prioritize information for inclusion in proactive and reactive messaging. Also researches, writes and produces accurate and compelling content and/or press statements.
This individual is required to demonstrate creative solution finding, effective internal client consulting and collaboration skills; high organizational acumen, customer service skills; strong writing skills across diverse audiences and the ability to manage and prioritize many simultaneous projects.
Communication specialists in a Level II role are expected to provide input and guidance to other members of the communications, marketing, community relations, human resources, and public policy teams and to organizational leaders related to their area of specialization, proactively identify opportunities and work on projects with moderate to high complexity, scope and budget.
In this role, communication specialists will be asked to lead cross-departmental projects, identify opportunities and develop recommendations for improvements. Level II roles leverage their knowledge of the business, communication metrics and innovation to provide feedback regarding communication initiatives.
Education Qualifications:
Required Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required. Experience in communications or public relations role and/or healthcare setting preferred.
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required with a preference in journalism, English, communications, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong writing skills and ability to distill complex information into easy-to-understand talking points
- Ability to proactively identify, analyze, and plan communication responses to emerging issues
