Job description

ROLE SUMMARY

The Rare Disease (RD) Key Account Manager Regional Director (KAM RD) is responsible for leading and coaching the Rare Disease Key Account Management Regional team, with a key focus on executing a patient first approach while impacting aligned market and brand goals. As the most senior Account Management role in the field, the RD KAM RD will impact goal progression by utilizing local knowledge and leadership skills to coach their KAM direct reports to develop and execute against strategic account plans that are mutually aligned to both Pfizer and the customer. KAM RDs will also compliantly provide and coach their KAMs to provide cross-functional leadership with account and customer information to enable collaborative communications that support aligned business imperatives across the appropriate roles aligned to the Integrated Account Team model. This role is also instrumental in working with the RD KAM LT and cross functional internal stakeholders across field medical, marketing, sales, and patient solutions to ensure compliant strategic customer facing colleague alignment.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide the day-to-day leadership and management of Account Management Colleagues, including alignment to brand / market goals, KPIs and performance management.
  • Take full accountability for all personnel issues and act as the final point of escalation for all Account Management roles in their region, coordinating with the KAM National Lead when needed.
  • Lead the consistent execution of business and account priorities within the region with a focus on long and short-term mutual value opportunities identified with prioritized accounts and aligned with market and brand goals, as well as company and Rare Disease Key Account Management vision.
  • Lead Account Management roles to execute while leveraging the full account team model and Account / Customer engagement strategies to drive business performance.
  • Deliver documented capabilities-based coaching to support skill excellence and optimal development across the KAM team.
  • Manage the various budgets for the assigned region.
  • Maintain required technical, environmental and Account Management expertise to respond accurately and compliantly to all questions regarding products, policies and business-related issues from customers and account management colleagues.
  • Recruit and select candidates for Account Management positions in compliance with Pfizer requirements, utilizing approved hiring materials.
  • Work with cross functional partners to develop therapeutic area goals, strategies, and tactics for KAM organization.
  • Special projects as needed to support the key account management executional excellence within Rare Disease BU and broader Pfizer

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • BA/BS degree required with 10+ years of previous pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical marketing/sales experience.
  • Experience in Account Management/Key Account Management with at least three years spent in a promoted position with demonstrated leadership of teams.
  • Previous leadership/supervisory experience and ability to develop and motivate others, lead through change, and deliver on business imperatives required.
  • Proven track record of performance and meeting organizational goals.
  • Experience managing diverse teams of colleagues with different grades and responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to manage performance and develop talent.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical business and the environmental and business trends impacting the pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to analyze and draw appropriate conclusions using approved Account Management metrics and measurements
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to think and communicate with the audience’s needs first
  • Excellent facilitation skills

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Up to 40% travel required for this role. This includes overnight travel for internal meetings, external customer meetings, and conferences.


 

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $219,800.00 to $366,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 25.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
