Job description

ROLE SUMMARY 

As part of the Worldwide Pharmaceutical Operations – Pfizer Oncology, this individual will report directly to Oncology Field Reimbursement Team Lead. The Oncology Field Reimbursement Director will perform their duties under the strategic vision of OPSA (Oncology Patient Solutions & Alliances) and compliance standards. 

  

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES 

It will be this person’s role and responsibility to establish and maintain strong and lasting relationships with US Reimbursement and Payment Organizations/Agencies assuring that payment policy does not impede access to Pfizer Oncology portfolio and inform/educate internal stakeholders on industry trends with coverage and reimbursement of Oncology products.  

  

Their main role is to be the subject matter experts on reimbursement and coverage issues affecting Pfizer Oncology products and to use that expertise to ensure appropriate patient access to Pfizer products. Field Reimbursement Directors (FRDs) will support both opted-in patients and HCPs / provider accounts based on access support needs.  

For prescribed Pfizer Oncology patients who have opted in for personalized patient support: 

  • Provide patients with resources and materials in the areas of Practical (ie. Transportation & Lodging, Workplace Guidance) & Educational (Financial Literacy, Nutrition, Well-being) 

  • Connect patients with Pfizer-owned patient platforms This is Living with Cancer and My Healthcare Finances. 

  • Connect patients with 3rd party advocacy groups for Emotional Support 

Interactions with Healthcare Providers/accounts: 

  • Provide proactive access education and resources to accounts consistent with the existing FRD remit (e.g., information on the PA process or general payer requirements) 

  • Discuss access challenges in specific patient cases where appropriate consents have been obtained (proactively in certain defined circumstances; otherwise, reactively) 

  • FRD’s will manage triage requests from Sales consistent with current FRD remit for situations where the account needs additional education on Pfizer Oncology Together reimbursement support resources. 

 

Provide interpretive guidance and strategic insight to various internal Pfizer stakeholders as to the impact of potential reimbursement issues.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Minimum 7 years Pharmaceutical Industry experience typically within the fields of pharmaceutical sales and patient access, coding and reimbursement.  
  • Minimum 3 years of Oncology experience, preferably within the Pharmaceutical/ Biopharmaceutical sectors, Provider/Carrier Networks, or Government Agency. Reimbursement and Access experience is a mustStrong understanding of Oncology Reimbursement, Government Payment Systems, Provider/Carrier Networks, Co-Pay Assistance Programs, and knowledge of the Oncology policy dynamics that exist in the Cancer Community. 
  • Experience demonstrating exceptional communication and presentation skills, strategic planning and success in implementation of this plan to bring a return on investment. This individual must also have demonstrated leadership and success at working across internal boundaries and be able to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to coordinate various unique objectives. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly regulated environment and adhere to strict company compliance guidelines and procedures. Proven track record of collaborating broadly with a diverse range of customers, clients, and stakeholders. Training in and experience in responsible business communication both written and spoken. 
  • B.S. Degree is required and additional certification in coding and reimbursement is preferred. 
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $135,100.00 to $225,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
