Location:
Remote (MST Time Zone)
Salary Range:
up to 2500 USD

Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (MST)

About the Company:

Sagan represents a boutique CPA firm that supports a variety of small business clients with year-round bookkeeping, periodic clean-ups, and basic tax preparation. The team values accuracy, proactivity, and dependable support.

Position Overview:

Were looking for a Quickbooks Online & Tax Assistant whos confident in their skills and eager to take on a well-rounded role. You'll spend most of your time managing books in QuickBooks Online and supporting tax prep during busy seasons. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable juggling recurring work with special clean-up projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Bookkeeping (65%):

  • Manage monthly categorization of transactions for small business clients.
  • Perform periodic clean-ups and reconciliations (26 times/year).
  • Flag inconsistencies in accounts or transactions across months/years.
  • Use QuickBooks Online daily; exposure to Xero or QuickBooks Desktop is a plus.


Basic Tax Return Support (25%):

  • Compile and organize workpapers for business and individual returns.
  • Input data into Lacerte and perform comparisons to prior-year returns.
  • Flag missing or unusual items.
  • Handle e-file submissions and tracking.
  • No tax knowledge required - focus is on accuracy and organization.


Administrative Tasks (10%):

  • Send signature pages to clients.
  • Pull timesheets and assist with internal payroll.
  • Manage internal bookkeeping and send client invoices.
  • Familiarity with TaxDome or project management tools is a bonus.


Qualifications:

  • QBO Certified.
  • 2-3+ years of hands-on bookkeeping experience (CPA firm experience preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to spot irregularities.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing multiple clients.


Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with Lacerte, Xero, or QuickBooks Desktop
  • Prior exposure to tax prep environments
  • Familiarity with TaxDome or similar tools
