Following massive growth in both Australia and Japan in recent years: get ready USA! We are looking for a Financial Accountant who will deliver financial results and reporting that meet the needs of Koala and external stakeholders.

Please note: This role operates on Pacific Standard Time (PST) to align with Koala’s needs. Candidates should also anticipate regular meetings outside of standard PST work hours during March-October, particularly during month-end closing processes, to collaborate effectively with the Sydney-based finance team. Flexibility is key to ensuring seamless communication and support across time zones. 

Examples:

• First 3 days of month-end, you will be required to work to 7pm PDT / 12pm AEST (March-October only) to ensure sufficient overlap with the AUS team
• You will be required to attend a weekly call with the AUS team at 5-6pm PDT / 10-11am AEST (March-October only)

What key responsibilities does this role have @ Koala?

• Deliver accurate and timely financial results on a monthly basis
• Perform general ledger accounting tasks, such as journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with accounts payable, including invoice processing and payments
• Ensure correct processing of inventory receipts
• Support Group team with month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies 
• Assist with preparation of information for tax and other compliance requirements
• Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information and resolve discrepancies
• Assisting the team with ad-hoc projects, tasks and reports, as required
• Provide support during entity and/or group audits and assist in maintaining  accurate financial records

Requirements

• Previous experience in a global (or USA) manufacturing, eCommerce or retail industry
• Degree qualified in accounting, finance or related field (preferred)
• Current membership of an appropriate professional accounting organization (preferred)
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Excellent working knowledge of Netsuite and Shopify
• Bluesheets (or other AP automation tool) experience a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong attention to detail
• Self-motivated and forward thinking
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders
