Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

As Intercept continues to build its position as the leader in rare and serious liver disease, we are seeking a Director of Market Access & Reimbursement for the West Region.  The Director, Market Access & Reimbursement (ARD), is responsible for developing a reimbursement and access team strategy, creating tactics to remove access barriers to OCALIVA® for appropriate patients, while optimizing conversions and adherence.  The position reports to the Vice President, U.S. Market Access.

The Director, Access and Reimbursement will have direct supervisory responsibility for a team of Field Reimbursement Managers (a blended team of Intercept and Syneos FRMs), and work with the Director, Access & Reimbursement for the East Region to build out the market access and reimbursement strategy and be responsible for translating that strategy at the team level.  The ARD will be responsible for the development of tactical activities, while training, coaching and maintaining a cohesive and effective team of Field Reimbursement Managers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead team to achieve/exceed market access goals and objectives, meeting or exceeding team KPIs for PBC
  • Develop plan and oversee goal to deliver HCP education on paths to patient access, and provide support that is targeted through a quickly changing payer landscape with agility
  • Work closely with Market Access leadership, Marketing, Channel and Patient Services to educate/execute support programs to ensure a positive patient experience and remove barriers to access
  • Lead team to achieve/exceed Market Access goals and objectives for the nation while maintaining PBC reimbursement focus through established KPIs and MBOs
  • Recruit, motivate, coach, and develop a team of Field Reimbursement Managers, inclusive of Intercept employees and contracted team members
  • Develop and execute a team access and reimbursement plan that aligns with US Market Access and National Access and Reimbursement strategy
  • Use data analysis and other reports to understand/predict trends to support regional business planning in the medium- to long-term
  • Leverage technology and automation to create visibility and deliver key agreed-upon access and reimbursement activities
  • Identify barrier trends and develop initiatives to reduce patient barriers
  • Evaluate and coach performance of Field Reimbursement Managers
  • Conduct regular field contact visits with Field Reimbursement Managers
  • Manage escalated internal/external customer issues in a solution-oriented manner
  • Contribute to the development and execution of Access Training programs
  • Develop and monitor performance against Market Access goals, KPIs and MBOs
  • Establish and maintain high level of Payer, Access, Specialty Pharmacy and product knowledge
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of administrative requirements
  • Review and audit expense reports and monitor regional spending against budgets

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree preferred
  • 10 years of proven commercial experience within the pharmaceutical industry (preferably with specialty pharmaceuticals experience)
  • 5+ years Market Access/Sales leadership experience in leading field teams
  • Extensive pharmacy benefit knowledge (specialty product specific) required
  • Knowledge and understanding of all payer segments (e.g., Commercial, Medicare Part D) and prior experience launching orphan or specialty products is strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in Marketing, Market Access strategy, Commercial Operations or Training preferred
  • Experience in leading teams in specialty markets, HUB/reimbursement experience preferred
  • Must live within territory or within territory boundaries
  • Operation of a company vehicle is an essential function of the job, and therefore a valid driver’s license issued by the state the driver resides in is required and the driver must meet the Driver Eligibility requirements under Intercept’s Fleet policy

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $230,000 to $270,000. This represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position.  Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including, but not limited to, experience, skillset, and performance.
