Job Summary: We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to develop and instruct a series of courses in advanced data analysis using the R programming language and other Statistical Analysis tools for the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). AFIT is the Air Force’s graduate school of engineering and management as well as its institution for technical professional continuing education. AFIT is committed to providing defense-focused graduate and professional continuing education and research to sustain the technological supremacy of America’s air and space forces. AFIT/LS is the School of Systems & Logistics. Through their mission to develop and deliver acquisition and logistics education, the education faculty will rely on employees to support classroom training products, techniques, and tools. This effort is to support the development of courses focused on data science. The Air Force has a need to increase its investment in talent to help establish a data-driven culture.

Key Responsibility:

  • Research, develop, edit, and maintain course materials for advanced data analysis
  • Provide course instruction to military students.
  • Manage student materials, student registrations, classroom support, coordinating guest speakers, teleconferences, and other faculty requested assistance pertaining to the course
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Working knowledge and familiarity with statistical analysis tools
  • Experience with curriculum development
  • Develop a series of courses in advanced data analysis using the R programming language and other Statistical Analysis tools.
  • Assist AFIT/LS in researching, developing, editing, and maintaining course materials as necessary.
  • Provide instruction to US Military graduate students and manage curriculum development.
  • The candidate will be expected to have expert knowledge of data preprocessing, data visualization, Python, C ++, R, MATLAB, and curriculum development.

Work Environment:

  • Location: Remote
  • Travel Requirements: 10% minimal travel.
  • Working Hours: Standard 40 hours per week.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science & Analytics, Engineering, or Mathematics of Master’s Degree in Data Science & Analytics
  • Experience: 10+ years experience in the data science field.
  • Possesses 10+ years of experience providing instruction in data science at the graduate school level.
  • Possesses 5+ years experience in Curriculum Development
  • Must have a DoD SECRET clearance.
