The job

As the Procurement Lead at Tiko, you will play a key role in steering and advancing our procurement processes across global locations. In this crucial role, you will ensure that our procurement strategies are not only adhered to but also continuously optimised to meet evolving needs. Through strong collaborations, you will help maintain a cohesive and effective procurement strategy that aligns with Tiko’s goals.

Responsibilities - will include but not limited to:

  • Ensure the selection of quality vendors, securing competitive pricing through a fair and transparent process.
  • Streamline procurement operations, ensure adherence to checks and balances, and reduce the time to purchase.
  • Oversee the entire procurement process, ensuring high-value transactions are managed effectively and transparently.
  • Maintain and evolve a system of data tracking to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements across all markets.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate and manage contracts to ensure compliance and advantageous terms.
  • Coordinate with local purchasers to refine procurement best practices, ensuring effective operations in both existing and new markets.
  • Oversee the management of travel and accommodation services, ensuring they are cost-effective and comply with organisational travel policies.
  • Manage the preparation and finalisation of agreements and contracts, ensuring they meet legal standards and comply with local regulations. 
  • Work closely with stakeholders in the organisation to ensure they have a positive experience when supported in their purchasing process.
  • Provide comprehensive procurement reports and analyses, using data-driven insights to continually refine our purchasing processes.

You’re a strategic thinker with a sharp eye for detail, effortlessly balancing big-picture vision with hands-on practicality. You guide your team with confidence, but you’re never afraid to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty when needed. Your exceptional negotiation skills and keen legal mind make you a pro at securing favorable terms and optimizing supply chain operations. Tech-savvy and analytical, you make logical, ethical decisions backed by solid data. You understand that procurement should empower the organization, not hinder it, and your strong communication skills make you a natural leader in driving that vision forward.


Requirements:

  • You bring at least 8 years of experience in a procurement role, including a minimum of 2 years in a managerial or lead position within a multinational organization
  • You have a proven track record of setting up and managing contracts across diverse markets.
  • You excel at planning and streamlining procurement processes to maximize efficiency.
  • Your approach is grounded in data, ensuring well-informed and practical choices.
  • You have hands-on experience with system and reporting setup, ideally with NetSuite.
  • Experience in NGO procurement is highly desirable.
  • You thrive under pressure, managing multiple projects simultaneously and consistently meeting tight deadlines.
  • You are fluent in both written and spoken English.
  • You are currently based in one of the specified countries.

The gross monthly salary bracket for this position is R68,079 - R102,118 in South Africa, Ksh456,288 - Ksh684,432 in Kenya, €3,289 - €4,934 in Ethiopia, CFA1,439,560 - CFA2,159,340 in Burkina Faso, UGX13,721,907 - UGX20,582,860 in Uganda, and ZMW83,095 - ZMW124,643 in Zambia, plus benefits. We will offer you a salary in this bracket depending on your level of experience and how it relates to your future colleagues.
