The Arena Group’s Lifestyle Vertical is seeking a dynamic and experienced Freelance Beauty Editor with a strong understanding of the 40+ beauty landscape to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping our beauty content across Parade.com/beauty and other lifestyle beauty sites. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate beauty enthusiast with a strategic mindset for digital content pageview growth, specifically catering to the needs and interests of a mature audience. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned editor with a proven track record of assigning high-quality, SEO-optimized, and engaging beauty articles that resonate with our target demographic. As Beauty Editor, you will be responsible for managing the content pipeline, collaborating with writers, and contributing to the overall growth strategy of our beauty vertical.
The Arena Group’s expected hourly salary range for this position is currently $35 - $40 per hour. We are seeking candidates that are available for forty hours per week. Actual salaries will vary based on multiple factors including education, experience and other factors permitted by law.
What You’ll Do:
Content Assignment & Management: Assign and manage a high volume of beauty-related articles, covering topics such as skincare, makeup, haircare, trends, and product reviews specifically tailored for the 40+ demographic. Ensure all content meets quality standards, deadlines, and SEO requirements.
SEO & Referrals Focus: Ensure all assigned content is optimized for search engines and designed to attract traffic from key referrers such as Yahoo, MSN, and Google Discover.
Headline Optimization: Craft compelling and click-worthy headlines that maximize engagement and traffic, with a focus on what resonates with the 40+ audience.
Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Lifestyle Director to develop and implement monthly, weekly, and daily content calendars aligned with overall growth goals, managing both short-lead and long-lead content.
Trend Awareness: Stay up to date on the latest beauty trends, product innovations, and industry news relevant to the 40+ demographic.
Writer Management: Provide clear briefs and constructive feedback, and maintain strong relationships with freelance writers.
Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze content performance to identify opportunities for improvement and optimize future assignments.
Brand Knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of relevant beauty brands and products, particularly those favored by or designed for the 40+ audience.
What You’ll Bring:
Proven experience and demonstrable authority in creating and assigning beauty-related content for online publications, with a specific focus on mature women.
A strong understanding of SEO principles and best practices for driving organic traffic, as well as familiarity with what clicks on referrers like Yahoo, MSN, and Google Discover.
Expertise in crafting engaging and click-worthy headlines.
Excellent editorial judgment and attention to detail.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including both short and long-lead content.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Deep knowledge and passion for the beauty industry, including current trends, products, and ingredients relevant to the 40+ demographic.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Familiarity with content management systems (CMS).
Experience with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) preferred.
Existing network of freelance beauty writers.
Experience with product review writing and affiliate marketing preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field (preferred).
