Payroll, Benefits, and Accounting Specialist (Remote – KY)

**This is a remote/telecommute position. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Louisville, KY**

Job Title: Payroll, Benefits, and Accounting Specialist
Salary Range: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 Exempt hourly role

What You’ll Do:
 

Payroll:

  • Manage bi-weekly payroll processing across all Cosán entities.

  • Maintain up-to-date payroll records including hires, terminations, changes, bonuses, and deductions.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws.

  • Oversee year-end activities including W-2 and 1095 distribution.

  • Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure accurate payroll and benefits deductions.

Benefits Administration:

  • Administer employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, and retirement.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for employee benefits questions and support.

  • Handle enrollments, changes, and terminations in benefit plans.

  • Coordinate with vendors and brokers for renewals, audits, and compliance.

  • Ensure accurate benefit data entry in HRIS and payroll systems.

Accounting Support:

  • Assist with month-end close including journal entries and account reconciliations.

  • Support AP/AR functions and payroll-related account reconciliations.

  • Prepare operational and financial reports related to payroll and benefits.

  • Support internal, external, and government audit processes.

Collaboration & Projects:

  • Partner with HR to align benefits and compliance processes with organizational goals.

  • Support cross-functional initiatives and special projects as needed.

Required Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in payroll, benefits administration, and accounting.
  • ​​​​​Experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paylocity, Paychex) and accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks).
  • Familiarity with payroll regulations (FLSA, ERISA, etc.).
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, Business Admin, or related field.
  • Experience Processing payroll for multi-state organization. 

 
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Competitive salary: $55,000.00 – $65,000.00 based on experience.

  • In-person travel required 4–6 times per month for meetings and collaboration.
