Lead Program Manager 

About the position:


California Applicants preferred, but Massachusetts and Colorado will also be considered.


HealthBegins is looking for a Lead Program Manager to join our team! This is a full-time remote, salaried position. The lead reports directly to the Program Director, Learning and Improvement, with an indirect reporting relationship to the Program Director, Medicaid Strategies and Initiatives.

As Lead Program Manager , you will join a rapidly expanding team dedicated to empowering leaders nationwide to improve healthcare and society by advancing health equity. You’ll work to address the social, economic, and structural challenges that disproportionately affect marginalized communities. In this role, you will be responsible for all project planning, implementation, and delivery aspects, ensuring alignment with organizational business goals, timelines, and budgets for our most complex projects and initiatives. You will also support the management team in building the project management tools, processes, and capabilities to further program management efficiencies. What you’ll do: 


Project Planning and Strategy

  • Define the tactical plan for the project scope, including objectives and deliverables in alignment with organizational business goals, client requirements, and health equity aims.

  • Develop comprehensive project plans that include timelines, milestones, dependencies, deliverables, and risk management strategies for items at-risk of or experiencing challenges.

  • Collaborate with the project team (i.e., client, partners, colleagues, etc.) and key stakeholders to align project goals with business strategies and identify success criteria.


Implementation, Delivery, and Oversight

  • Oversee the implementation and delivery of projects, programs, and initiatives, ensuring adherence to scope, timeline, and budget and staffing resources.

  • Build, implement, and monitor project work plans, trackers, budgets, and other project management tools and resources to support day-to-day project operations (e.g., workflows, communication, etc.).

  • Monitor project progress and adjust plans to stay on schedule and within budget.

  • Proactively track and manage risks and issue change management, as well as knowledge management, and implement mitigation plans as needed.


Project Team Management and Collaboration

  • Lead project cross-functional teams, such as consultants or subject matter experts (SMEs), promoting a collaborative, goal-oriented environment.

  • Provide mentorship and support to project managers and team members, as needed and required by senior leadership

  • Act as a point of escalation, facilitating issue resolution and ensuring clear communication among team members and stakeholders, bringing immediate concerns to the appropriate Program Director(s).

  • Effectively communicate program status, risks, and strategic recommendations to executive and senior leadership, ensuring alignment, transparency, and informed decision-making at the highest levels.


Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

  • Communicate project updates and status reports to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Facilitate regular project meetings, including kick-offs, status updates, and post-project reviews.

  • Gather feedback from stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement in project delivery.


Budget and Resource Management

  • Manage project budgets, monitoring expenses to ensure alignment with financial goals.

  • Optimize resource allocation across multiple projects, balancing workloads and identifying resource needs.

  • Track and report on financial performance, flagging any deviations from the budget and implementing corrective actions.

The compensation package for this position includes a salary range of $90,000 - $94,000 commensurate with experience plus an annual bonus awarded based on individual and team performance. We also provide great benefits that value and support you as you balance work and family commitments. 




Requirements


Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of project management experience.

  • 4+ years of experience working with stakeholders within a cross-functional matrix environment     

  • Bachelor’s Degree or four years of relevant work history post-high school. 

  • Strong interest and documented commitment to advancing health equity. 


Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Public Administration, Public Policy, or Business Administration. 

  • Experience working in healthcare, public health, and/or community health. 

  • Experience working with healthcare systems, health plans, community nonprofits, and/or philanthropies is a plus. 

  • Experience working in or demonstrating a deep understanding of Medicaid policy and/or managed care plans is a plus. 

  • Experience working with stakeholders in a nimble, fast-paced, and hybrid (in-person and virtual) work environment.  

  • Experience using project management software (e.g., ClickUp, Monday, Asana, etc.)

  • PMP and/or CSM certification.

84,000 - 94,000
