Job description

Up to 3 year fixed term contract* / full time

*(This is a 3 year project position with funding secured for this period, the role is initially offered on a 12 month contract basis with possibility of extension to at least 3 years (subject to local labour law).

Location: The successful candidate may be based in a country where one of the independent National/Regional Greenpeace organisations (NRO’s) is located. See the locations here. [Unfortunately, we are currently unable to host new staff in a number of NROs at this present time, due to various restrictions. We are unable to support hosting of new staff in Africa, Belgium, Colombia, Germany, India, Italy, Spain, US, UK, MENA region, in addition to some other NRO locations. Greenpeace International is looking for a User Experience Researcher to provide data based, user-related insights and creative solutions to help shape the tools that will change the future of digital campaigning on a global scale.

Working closely with the product team and its design team, you will represent the voice of our internal and external users, and guide the design and development of the features based on your research in order to achieve both the end-users’ and the organisation’s goals. Working on new features, as well as iterating on existing ones, you’ll be designing and conducting user research for a truly global product used in multiple languages, across our National & Regional Organisations (NROs), around the world.

Planet 4, Greenpeace's website builder and digital engagement platform is used as a CMS tool by many National / Regional Organisations as their primary web presence. 52 websites in total, in 36 different languages. Planet 4 is a Content Management System built on the WordPress Block Editor framework to allow web admins, content editors and campaigners to update their Greenpeace website or campaign pages.

In this role you will:

  • Conduct user research to gain deep insights into the needs, behaviors, and pain points of our target users (User interviews, surveys, usability testing, A/B testing).

  • Develop user stories, personas, customer journeys, and experience maps based on research findings.

  • Define testing strategies for the product, including assumptions, scenarios, and success metrics.

  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data (analytics, heatmaps, recordings, interviews, and tests) and create reports to communicate findings to the product team and Greenpeace stakeholders.

  • Identify key areas for research within the product development cycle.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of our audiences (internal and external) through data and insights.

  • Iterate designs based on Greenpeace community feedback, end-user feedback, and data analysis.

  • Run usability studies and A/B testing to validate design choices.

  • Work with the Data Analyst to measure user behavior and conversion rates.

  • Define user acceptance test scenarios in collaboration with the product team.

  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the user experience, suggesting improvements, and validating design iterations.

  • Work closely with other designers, the product manager, and the development team to ensure research insights are integrated into the product design process.
