Job Overview:

We are hiring a Senior Metallurgist to oversee and manage complex metallurgical projects in metal processing plants, particularly for gold, silver, and copper. This position requires advanced technical expertise in metallurgical processes and leadership in the commissioning of metallurgical plants and pilot plants. The role demands leadership skills, personnel management, as well as the ability to work in remote locations and frequent travel.  Looking for candidates who reside in Peru, will consider candidates from Chile and Mexico.  

 

Responsibilities 

  • Develop metallurgical test protocols to ensure correct executive and reliability of tests.
  • Conduct laboratory tests, BRT’s, CLT’s, RLT’s, etc, to obtain reliable data for analysis and decision-making.
  • Evaluate metallurgical results and generate technical reports. Provide clear and timely information for project follow-up.
  • Coordinate with external laboratories and suppliers, Guarantee quality and timely delivery of analyses.
  • Support the preparation of technical proposals, Contribute to the development of new business opportunities.
  • Train operational and technical staff (Internal and external clients). Transfer knowledge and best practices to work teams.
  • Monitor KPIs of metallurgical tests and evaluate performance and identify improvement opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Manage metallurgical data databases; facilitate access and traceability of technical information.
  • Participate in project follow-up meetings, align progress and strategies with technology and operations teams.
  • Propose improvements to metallurgical processes to increase process efficiency and performance.
  • Conduct site visits to mining operations for tests development and follow-up. Validate field performance of metallurgical tests, processes and technologies.
  • Oversee adherence to test schedules and ensure projects are executed according to plan.
  • Validate operating conditions for on-site tests. Ensure technical feasibility of tests.
  • Foster technical relationships with external Labs, universities and R&D centers to strengthen innovation and external collaboration.
  • Provide technical support and expertise during on-site testing.
  • High-level interaction with managers and superintendents from client companies, requiring confidence and strong communication skills.
  • Coordination with international and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage different simultaneous projects and adapt to new testing methodologies.
  • Act as the primary technical representative in front of clients during on-site test campaigns.
  • Participate in industry conferences and technical forums as a company representative.

        Travel and Remote Work: 

        • Willingness to travel and work in remote locations/mine sites (approximately 50% of the time), managing projects and providing technical support to on-site plants and laboratories.

        Communication and Reporting:

        • Intermediate to advanced English proficiency, with the ability to eectively communicate in technical international settings.
        • Prepare technical reports and present analysis on process performance, including recommendations for continuous improvement.
        • Collaborate on the preparation of technical presentations, support internal and external communication of results.

        Requirements:

        • Minimum of 10 years of experience in leaching processes for gold, silver and copper, extractive metallurgy, and pilot/laboratory testing.
        • Demonstrated ability to prepare technical reports and communicate effectively with senior management and clients.

            Leadership Skills: 

            • Proven ability to manage and lead teams in challenging environments.
            •  Excellent interpersonal and personnel management skills.
