The Role


We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join our team in delivering cutting-edge private cloud hosting platforms. You will be responsible for ensuring the secure operation of multi-tenanted and micro-segmented networks, managing both software-defined and physical infrastructure, as well as next-generation firewalls. Operating across multiple classifications, both in core environments and at the edge, you will support tenant transitions with diverse application, data, and network needs. Additionally, you will contribute to ongoing enhancements and new feature development as part of our continual service improvement initiatives.


Job Responsibilities 


  • SDN defined data centre networking design, deploy, troubleshoot and manage to a 3rd line level.
  • VMware NSX-T virtualised networking specifically end to end integration with SDN physical network Next Gen firewall and boundary firewall IDS/IPS design, deploy, troubleshoot and manage to a 3rd line level.
  • Linux operating system (Ubuntu preferred) design, deploy, troubleshoot and manage to a 3rd line level.
  • Windows OS, active directory and windows centric core services (WSUS, SCCM, etc) design, deploy, troubleshoot and manage to a 3rd line level.
  • Data protection / management - VMware and guest OS and App integration.
  • Security best practices, system and OS level security hardening (CISCAT benchmarking etc) using security vulnerability scanning tools such as Nessus.
  • Creation of operating procedures and knowledge articles / process.
  • Creation and on-going updates to detailed system design and configuration documentation.
  • Involvement in the on-boarding and service transition of tenants into to a new hosting capability.
  • Provide technical support, incident and request response in a live environment (predominantly 3rd line support).


Skills Required (Essential) 


Mandatory Technical Skills 

  • Cisco ACI / APIC, spine and leaf (or relevant Cisco Certification). Must have experience in a live operational / data centre environment. Design, deploy, troubleshoot and manage to a 3rd line level.  
  • Fortigate NGFW and Fortiswitch, Fortimanager for FW IDS/IPS & HW firmware updates. Design, deploy, troubleshoot and manage to a 3rd line level at the edge and the core. 
  • VMware NSX-T virtualised networking specifically end to end integration with Cisco ACI physical network. 
  • Working in air gapped / none internet connected environments.   
  • Creation of operating procedures and knowledge articles / processes.   
  • Creation and on-going updates to detailed system design and configuration documentation. 
  • Involvement In the on-boarding and service transition to a new IaaS capability 
  • Provide technical support, incident and request response in a live environment (predominantly 3rd line support) 

 

Other Beneficial Technical Skills 

  • VMware Cloud Foundation (or relevant vSphere 7 and above experience) deploy and manage to 3rd line level. Must have operational experience in a production setting. 
  • VMware Aria Operations (formally Log and network insight) Design, deploy, troubleshoot and manage to a 3rd line level and SIEM integration.  
  • Operational experience in zero trust, deny all by default, secure by design environments. 
  • Linux operating system (Ubuntu preferred) Design, deploy, troubleshoot and manage to a 3rd line level. 
  • Windows OS, active directory and windows centric core services Design, deploy, troubleshoot and manage to a 3rd line level 
  • Security best practices, network, system and OS level security hardening (CISCAT benchmarking etc) security vulnerability scanning tools such as Nessus 
  • Automation / Scripting (Aria Automation, GitLab CI/CD, Python, Shell Scripting, PowerShell) 
  • Enterprise Storage experience including vSAN, NetApp ONTAP and Storage Grid.  




Security Clearance Requirements


The successful candidate must be eligible to go through a SC level security clearance, DV preferred.


Location


Must be willing to travel. Will be working Corsham 30% remote 60% other sites including Portsmouth 10%.
