A quick look at the role
The Head of Strategic Communiocations is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and executing a comprehensive communication strategy that increases our strategic influence, enhances our brand reputation, drives engagement, and supports business growth. You will lead a team of professionals in public relations, content creation, and social media management, ensuring that all efforts align with the company’s objectives and values. You also collaborate closely with our Head of Sustainability and Public Affairs, Head of Partnerships, and expert consultancy leads on Innovation, Packaging, and Waste Management. This role is pivotal in enhancing the brand's influence, visibility, reputation, and engagement across various platforms.

Your core responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a holistic PR, content, and social media strategy that aligns with the company’s business goals.
  • Provide strategic counsel to senior management on communication matters, including crisis management, and strategic positioning.
  • Monitor events, news, industry trends and competitive landscape to inform and adapt PR, Content & Social strategies in achieving business objectives.
  • Provide communication support for external affairs, helping to shape our leadership positioning and point of view on different matters, making them clear and to the point, as well as creating comms that will engage and influence the relevent stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, industry influencers, and stakeholders.
  • Manage all external communications, including press releases, media briefings, and interviews, ensuring that all comms are aligned to the Brand Tone of Voice, and our leadership positionings etc.
  • Oversee the development of PR campaigns that increases and enhances the company’s visibility and reputation.
  • Lead the content team in producing high-quality, engaging, and relevant content across various platforms (blogs, whitepapers, case studies, etc.) Ensure all content supports the brand’s voice, messaging, and positioning.
  • Develop a PR, social and content calendar that aligns with comms, marketing and business objectives. Run a weekly forum with relevent stakeholders to ensure all stories are identified and plotted in calendar.
  • Oversee the company’s organic social media presence, ensuring consistent messaging and engagement. As well as the development and execution of social media campaigns that drive brand awareness and customer engagement.
  • Produce reports and analyze performance of all PR, content and social media campaigns to measure their effectiveness, success, identify opportunities and inform future strategies.
  • Manage and mentor a team of PR, content, and social media professionals. Foster a collaborative and creative work environment that encourages innovation and excellence. Set performance goals and conduct regular evaluations to ensure team effectiveness and professional growth.

Our essential requirements

  • 2 years experience leading a Communications team within a large complex organisation
  • Experience of PR, reputation management, content and social, campaign development and insight analysis
  • Proven record of delivering large scale effective campaigns and managing budget
  • Ability to develop strategy and campaigns based on customer insight and data
  • Knowledge of media relationship development
