This is a remote position. Typical hours. Monday through Friday. 0800-1700 CST.
Major Responsibilities:
- Designs, develops and implements educational training programs which support the successful adoption of electronic health record and associated health information technology applications and critical components into the patient care process.
- Researches, organizes information, writes, and monitors program preparation to oversee instructional materials (instructor and trainee guides, graphics, tutorials, references, tests, etc.) and resources are deliverable in scope and on schedule.
- Designs, develops and maintains complex training environment and training patient technical requirements, as well as develops and evaluates competency of all trainers in areas of responsibly, in order to support successful learning.
- Develops system physician and advanced end-user training/education modules, and, where appropriate, delivers training/support on system capabilities/functionalities. Evaluates training effectiveness and collaborates with other project teams to modify training programs accordingly.
- Collaborates with informatics educators across the system to optimize resources, share expertise and improve programming across multiple sites.
- Develops training using best-practice instructional methods and techniques (e.g. self-paced, group-paced, media, virtual, online) appropriate to the situation and learner’s development level, learning needs, readiness, ability to learn and culture. Provides expertise in application support area(s) to other clinical informatics team members and service line leaders.
- Acts as a subject matter expert as it relates to documentation and workflows in collaboration with IT and informatics colleagues. Provides guidance and consultation in planning, development and implementation of new functionality.
- Creates an effective learning environment, demonstrates proficiency in use of technology, evaluates training outcomes, and implements a variety of training strategies to achieve outcome objectives.
- Mentors and is a preceptor to new PT team members to provide guidance and support for job responsibilities including training material creation, environment build, workflows and training logistics and technology.
- Partners with clinical informatics, clinical education and team members to identify opportunities for optimization and technical improvements/changes that foster streamlined and integrated workflows following industry best practices, quality and service standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
Education Required:
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Nursing, or
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Education, or
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Health Care Administration.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 4 years of experience in in a principal trainer role with broad based knowledge that includes in-depth analysis of workflows in areas supported, training environment rebuild, application knowledge and is a subject matter expert.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Certification Addendum-Team members will obtain within 6 months and maintain annual educational requirements for EPIC certification(s) as required by department.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups and the measurement of training effects.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles, online and in person teaching methods to maximize learning.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including strong presentation/speaking skills.
- Strong analytical and documentation skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability select and use training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate to ensure knowledge transfer.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, set appropriate priorities and accomplish assignments in a thorough and timely manner
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Captivate) or similar products. Knowledge of educational software and online learning techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate/present effectively with all levels within the organization.
- Experience working with clinical and technical customers, vendors, peers, and management. Demonstrated relationship building skills.

- Generally exposed to a normal office environment. Sits the majority of the workday, but also may lift, reach, and bend throughout the day.
- May assume on-call responsibilities that require emergent clinical informatics support and/or EHR education involvement.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.

Pay Range
$37.50 - $56.25
