Job description

WOW! is currently hiring a Sr Director of Legal & Regulatory Affairs!

The Sr Dir, Legal & Regulatory Affairs will oversee regulatory and compliance matters for the company, assist with management of the company’s pending and threatened litigation, provide support for the company’s business products and services, and support various business units in negotiating and drafting commercial agreements.

What You'll be doing:

Include but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee the company’s compliance with state and federal regulations applicable to telecommunications companies, including those of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Federal Trade Commission, and other Federal, State and Local regulatory agencies or public service commissions.

  • Advise the General Counsel and Executive Leadership team on regulatory investigations and audits.

  • Assist the General Counsel with management of low-level disputes and complaints, ensuring efficient resolution while escalating critical issues as necessary.

  • Manage and provide support to outside counsel for threatened and pending litigation matters.

  • Provide legal advice and contract support to assist the Vice President of Procurement and his team with contract negotiations and dispute resolution.

  • Collaborate closely with WOW!’s product and marketing teams to ensure successful product launches and marketing campaigns and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Review and update applicable terms of service.

  • Collaborate closely with other departments (e.g., finance, operations, marketing and IT) to ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements in all areas of the business.

  • Provide input and legal advice to support the Company’s privacy and cyber-security policies and initiatives and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Assist the General Counsel with strategic transactions by coordinating due diligence, and reviewing and drafting agreements.

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Required Education and Experience:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) Degree from accredited law school with a strong record of performance

  • Admission to the bar in a jurisdiction where the company operates

  • 10 years of relevant experience practicing law at a national law firm and/or in house, preferable with a focus on regulatory, litigation, corporate and commercial matters

  • Understanding of relevant laws and regulations applicable to the cable/telecom industry is a strong plus

  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills

  • Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and pivot quickly based on changing priorities, along with a willingness to jump in and take ownership of projects as they a rise

  • Familiarity and interest with privacy and intellectual property laws and issues preferred

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to think strategically and provide practical, solution-oriented advice

  • Proven track record of managing complex legal issues and driving results

  • High level of integrity, professionalism and discretion

  • Self-starter with a team mind-set and ability to work independently and initiate, coordinate and lead projects to meet deadlines within a changing fast-paced environment

Skills and Abilities to be Successful in this Role:

  • Proficient with all Microsoft products and utilizing web-based applications.
