Job description

This is a remote position.

We are seeking a System Engineer who will join a platform operations team and work in a diverse team of server operators collaborating to ensure that our infrastructure is running efficiently!

Your responsibilities:

You maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency and overall system health
Furthermore, you will scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation
You evolve our systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity
In addition you will practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems
You assist the maintenance of our current Server Hardware on site
Together with the Team you will transition our IT infrastructure into the cloud

Requirements

Profound experience with diverse data storage solutions such as MySQL, ElasticSearch and Redis
Extensive experience with distributed, big data storage and processing systems such as Apache Hadoop (HDFS, HBase, YARN)
Knowledge in monitoring distributed systems preferably with Prometheus and Kubernetes as well as in configuration management solutions as Ansible
Work experience with Unix/Linux, administration systems (e.g. filesystems, inode, system calls) or networking (e.g., TCP/IP, network topologies and hardware, SDN)
Ideally first experience and interest in cloud solutions such as AWS
A problem solving and analytical mind-set for troubleshooting and overarching projects
Proactive and self-organized work approach paired with strong sense of ownership
Effective communication in English
Valid PL/EU work permit
