This is a remote position.

Job Highlights:

Contract type: Independent Contractor
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Washington, Missouri time (1-hour unpaid break)

Role Overview:

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with QuickBooks Online (QBO) and a strong background in bookkeeping and accounting. This individual will be responsible for managing accruals and ensuring our financials are GAAP-compliant. As a client-facing role, the Accountant will also need to demonstrate professionalism, excellent communication skills, and a strong ability to foster client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including accruals, general ledger entries, and journal entries.
Prepare and maintain GAAP-compliant financial statements and reports.
Work closely with the team to ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closing.
Handle accounts payable and receivable functions.
Ensure timely and accurate filing of taxes and other regulatory requirements.
Interact with clients to discuss financial matters, answer inquiries, and offer support as needed.
Provide guidance to junior accounting staff and assist with training as necessary.
Continuously monitor accounting practices and make recommendations for improvements.
Manage reconciliations of various accounts, including bank and credit card accounts.

Requirements

Extensive experience working with QuickBooks Online (QBO) and other accounting software.
Comfortable following written AP and payroll SOPs
Strong understanding of accruals, financial statements, and GAAP-compliant financials.
Exceptional bookkeeping and accounting skills, with a keen eye for detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional demeanor.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
5+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a senior accounting role.
Experience in client-facing accounting roles.
