Job description

This is a remote position.

Having recently launched the PetRehomer platform we are now seeking a number of additional volunteers to join our team to help us responsibly rehome pets located in the UK, that can no longer be cared for by their current owners. Find out more about us by watching our video.

The demand for our service is really high, so we need more highly motivated, reliable and caring volunteers who can help us deliver our unique service to both rehomers and adopters.

We are non-judgmental, and we want to make sure that dogs, cats and rabbits, that are in need of a new home, don't end up in the wrong hands. We combine our on-line digital service with full telephone, video and email support behind the scenes, to both adopters and rehomers.

If you would be interested in joining the team as a PetRehomer volunteer, here is a list of typical things that you could be doing:

  • Phoning people who have listed their pet to check that they are absolutely sure they are ready to rehome, and to learn more about the pet and its needs, using our intake process (training can be provided)

  • Using our database to update records

  • Editing listings to add information and photos where needed

  • Using the PetRehomer platform to approve, update or delete listings

  • Sharing our posts on social media

  • Speaking and messaging with adopters

  • Arranging home checks

  • Coordinating adoptions end to end

  • Dealing with queries

We are extremely busy, so you'll need to be happy to operate remotely and fairly independently (although we are a very friendly team that all support each other). You should be comfortable using Zoom, Facetime, WhatsApp and other digital media or communications tools. You'll also need good verbal and written communication skills.

These are ongoing roles, and training will be provided to the right candidates. Ideally we would like a minimum of 5 hours per week, but more are available! The hours you volunteer are flexible enough to suit all situations, and we will do our best to find a way to accommodate you. We find ourselves responding to listings and enquiries every day so we really do need extra help!

PS - Our rehoming coordinator roles can be split into smaller roles for people with less time or with a preference for a particular part of the role such as:

1) Speaking to people about new pet listings

2) Handling new enquiries and liaising between adopters and rehomers (this role requires daily activity, so suits people with lots of flexibility in their daily routine)

3) Following up with rehomers for updates

4) Social media sharing and posting

5) Writing content for our social media about pets

Interested in this super busy, but massively rewarding role? We'd love to hear from you!
