PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Senior Director, SAP Operations, The Regional Team Manager, SAP Basis is responsible for the management of the SAP Basis team members, as well to providing technical support, mentorship and leadership on SAP Basis systems to assigned team, providing regular operation and development of services for customer in most effective way from short and middle term perspective.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. System Administration and Maintenance
- Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of SAP systems, including performance monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting as well as the distribution of the workload across his/her assigned SAP Basis Team.
- Ensure the availability and performance of SAP systems to meet business requirements.
- Manage and dirstribute the workload across his/her team assigned for system upgrades, patches, internal projects and other maintenance tasks and initiatives to ensure optimal performance and security.
2. System Installation and Configuration
- Manage SAP Basis Resources assigned to his/her team to perform the installation and configuration of SAP systems, including system landscapes (development, testing, and production environments).
- Coordinate SAP Basis resources to work on the configuration of network, storage, databases, and operating systems as they interact with SAP applications.
- Plan and distribute the system migrations, integrations, and system upgrades as needed for assgined region.
3. User Administration and Security
- Manage and request user roles, authorizations, and access control to ensure data security and compliance with corporate policies for his/her team.
- Regularly review and audit security settings to prevent unauthorized access to SAP systems.
- Implement security patches plan and ensure that systems adhere to compliance and regulatory requirements.
4. Database Administration
- Promote within his/her SAP SAP Basis Team best practices, and monitor and maintain SAP databases (like HANA, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.), including backups, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
- Ensure database integrity, security, and availability.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with SAP Basis Team to handle database replication, clustering, and disaster recovery planning.
5. Performance Monitoring and Tuning
- Analyze system performance and take corrective actions to optimize performance and resource utilization.
- Ensure that his/her SAP Basis Operations Team members implement and adopt SAP system stability by monitoring application servers, databases, and network performance.
6. SAP Landscape Management
- Contribute and assign the appropiate SAP Basis resources to manage and design SAP landscape strategies, including system architecture, network infrastructure, and system sizing.
7. Coordination with Other Teams
- Work closely with other Global IT departments (networking, infraestructure, and security teams) to ensure smooth operation.
- Collaborate with functional and technical teams to support SAP module implementation, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Provide Technical support in the Sales and Presales on possible deals on demand
8. SAP System Migration and Upgrade Management
- Plan and coordinate system migrations, upgrades, and patches, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
- Stay updated with the latest SAP technological advancements and system versions.
9. Vendor and Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with SAP vendors and third-party service providers for licensing, system upgrades, or issue resolution.
- Act as a point of contact between SAP service providers, business stakeholders, and IT teams.
- Full ownership during regional business hours and weekends as needed for escalations, SAP Basis resources assignemnts and incidents that demands collaboration within different teams and SAP Basis Resources for troubleshooting and follow up corrective actions
- Provide monthly Regional SAP Basis utilization for Global Resources analysis and redistribution as needed to Senior SAP Basis Director
10. Compliance and Documentation
- Ensure SAP systems adhere to corporate and industry compliance ISAE standards
- Maintain thorough documentation of system configurations, policies, processes, and procedures regular checks and schedule constant reviews about SOP and procedures.
12. Training and Team Management
- Train and mentor Basis team members, ensuring they are equipped to handle day-to-day tasks.
- Assign tasks, review team performance, and ensure high levels of productivity within the SAP Basis team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Knowledge Areas
a) Deep SAP Basis Knowledge
- Extensive understanding of SAP architecture and its underlying infrastructure.
- Experience with various SAP modules, including ECC, S/4HANA, CRM, SRM, SCM, and others.
- Expertise in HANA Database and other databases like Oracle, SQL Server, or Sybase.
b) SAP Systems Landscape Management
- In-depth knowledge of landscape design, including system landscapes for development, quality assurance, and production.
- Expertise in SAP installation, upgrades, patch management, system copies, and refreshes.
- Knowledge with system migrations (e.g., ECC to S/4HANA) and hybrid landscapes (on-premise and cloud environments).
c) System Performance and Optimization
- Knowledge of performance tuning for both SAP application servers and databases.
- Understanding of load balancing, memory management, and network optimization in SAP environments.
- Experience in capacity planning and performance monitoring using tools like SAP Focused Run
d) Security and Compliance
- Familiarity with compliance regulations like ISAE, and industry standards for data security.
- Knowlede of disaster recovery and high availability strategies, including system backups and failover mechanisms.
2. Technical Skills
a) SAP Administration
- Proficiency in SAP Technical Managed Services Basis administration
- Knowledge with SAP Focused Run for monitoring, reporting, and troubleshooting.
- Knwoeldge with SAP Fiori and modern UI tools used in SAP environments.
b) Database and Operating System
- Strong hands-on experience with SAP HANA, Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2.
- Knowledge in Unix/Linux and Windows server administration for handling underlying SAP OS-level tasks.
- Knowledge with database optimization, tuning, and backup/recovery strategies.
c) Cloud and Virtualization
- Familiarity with SAP on Cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, ideally with RISE with SAP
- Knowledge in cloud migrations and hybrid cloud models.
d) Networking and Integration
- Understanding of SAP network configurations, including load balancing, routing, and firewall management.
- Knowledge of middleware and integration tools like SAP PI/PO or other third-party integration platforms.
- Familiarity with SAP web services.
3. Professional Skills
a) Leadership and Team Management
- Proven experience managing a large team (20+ consultants), including task delegation, performance monitoring, and conflict resolution.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members by providing technical and professional guidance.
- Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in high-pressure environments.
- Ability to lead large-scale projects involving upgrades, migrations, or system integrations.
b) Communication and Collaboration
- Strong communication skills to interact with stakeholders in English language, including business users, IT teams, and senior management.
- Ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences in a clear and concise manner.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration between technical teams (e.g., network, security) and SAP functional consultants.
c) Project Management
- knowledge in project management methodologies like Agile or Waterfall.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects, resources, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to ensure timely delivery of SAP projects while maintaining high-quality standards.
d) Problem-Solving and Analytical Thinking
- Strong analytical skills to identify and troubleshoot system issues and performance bottlenecks.
- Ability to take a proactive approach in identifying potential issues and addressing them before they impact operations.
- knowledge in conducting root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions to systemic problems.
4. Experience and Certifications
a) Experience
- Minimum 12+ years of SAP Basis experience, with a significant portion in a leadership or management role.
- Experience managing complex, regional SAP environments with distributed systems and multiple instances.
- Knowledge in system migrations (such as ECC to S/4HANA) or cloud deployments.
b) Certifications
- SAP Certified Technology Professional in System Administration (SAP HANA, SAP NetWeaver).
- Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP or Prince2) is a plus.
- Certification in ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) or similar service management frameworks is advantageou
