The TeamThe Sales Engineer will be a part of the Sales & Solutions Engineering team which sits within the Customer Experience team. The team’s engagement spans the life cycle of the client from a prospect to a customer. They are involved in sales calls, demos, implementations, training and workshops, integration, and technical assessment design and consultation. The exposure to post-sales allows this role to deeply empathize with clients’ business problems, and therefore develop scalable solutions that align with their core use case and help the sales team scope this out early and quickly in the pre-sales cycle.

The RoleCodeSignal is seeking a Sales Engineer who thrives at the intersection of technical expertise and customer advocacy. In this role, you'll work closely with our Account Executives and Customer Success Managers, serving as the main technical point of contact throughout the lifecycle of our prospects and customers. Part solution architect, part technical consultant, and part trusted advisor, you'll translate complex technical capabilities into compelling value propositions that resonate with engineering and talent acquisition leaders.

Your ability to understand customer pain points and demonstrate how CodeSignal's platform addresses those challenges will be crucial to our success. You'll conduct powerful product demonstrations, respond to technical inquiries, and help prospects envision how our solutions can transform their hiring & learning practices. Your technical credibility and consultative approach will be key differentiators in our competitive landscape.

Day-to-Day

  • Work closely with Content Engineering, Customer Success, and Talent Science teams to craft technical solutions that address customers' specific challenges
  • Conduct technical product demonstrations and solution workshops with prospective clients to showcase how our platform solves their needs
  • Collaborate with Sales teams to identify technical requirements and configure our platform to meet each customer's unique use cases
  • Translate complex customer requirements into clear technical specifications that our implementation teams can execute
  • Gather customer insights and technical feedback, working cross-functionally with Product to qualify, prioritize, and implement enhancements
  • Serve as a technical advisor throughout the sales cycle, helping prospects understand how our solutions integrate with their existing tech stack
  • Mentor Sales teammates on technical implementation strategies and best practices for demonstrating product value

Basic Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a customer-facing technical role, demonstrating product capabilities and addressing technical questions
  • 4+ years of experience in a B2B enterprise SaaS environment, preferably in recruiting technology or developer tools
  • Hands-on software development experience with at least one programming language (Java, Python, C#, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of database technologies (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.) to effectively discuss integration possibilities
  • Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to tailor technical demonstrations to both engineering leaders and talent acquisition stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills to articulate technical solutions in terms of business value and ROI
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear benefits for non-technical decision makers
  • Success working collaboratively across sales, product, and customer-facing teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven track record conducting compelling technical demonstrations that drive sales conversions
  • Experience configuring and implementing technical assessment solutions
  • Technical expertise in at least one of the following areas:
    • Front-end web development (HTML/CSS/JavaScript)
    • Backend technologies
    • Data analysis, visualization, Data science, Data engineering
    • Cloud technology architectures - AWS, GCP, Azure
  • Understanding of technical recruiting challenges and assessment methodologies
  • Experience working with ATS platforms (Oracle HCM, Workday experience a bonus) and HR technology ecosystems
The SalaryIn accordance with local regulations in jurisdictions where CodeSignal may hire, we are projecting an annual total salary in the range of USD $120,000-$190,000. This range is based on San Francisco benchmarks and encompasses all seniority levels eligible for this position. Offer packages often contain additional compensation in the form of commission or performance bonuses, equity, and/or benefits. Offers are awarded on an individual basis and are subject to factors such as, without limitation, a candidate’s level of experience, growth trajectory, and local labor market. Employees' compensation is reviewed and adjusted regularly.
