A Day in the Life

The Director of U.S. Sales Operations, Neurovascular, is primarily responsible for developing and implementing a successful commercial operations strategy. The role works closely with Sales and Marketing Leadership to develop US-based strategic growth plans with adequate and realistic market models that inform other key, strategic business activities such as organizational structure sizing, territory alignment, product launch support, and commercial infrastructure. This role will direct US input during product commercialization to drive product launch excellence and help grow the Neurovascular business. This role will serve as the advisor to the VP Sales, US as it relates to annual operating plan, organizational structure, talent development, quota methodology, sales incentive strategies, product launch preparedness, commercial operating plan execution, and capital investments for commercial enablement.

  • Provides administrative support to the sales function such as preparing sales and/or expense forecasts, budgets and quotas; coordinating sales meetings; etc.
  • Conducts statistical analysis on sales data and information to ensure optimal sales execution and attainment of growth objectives.
  • Helps develop territorial sales quotas in accordance with the profit plan.
  • May administer the field sales forecasting system, which provides management with current product sales potential.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing leadership regarding customer segmentation, account targeting, performance measurements, and modeling best-selling practices for national standardization
  • Serve as the commercial lead for strategic partnerships regarding deal models, performance objectives, commercial planning and execution, performance report out, marketplace dynamics and future opportunities to collaborate.
  • Collaborate with US Marketing to review and refine market model practices including market potential to adequately inform the annual operating plan, commercial operating plan, commercial structure, sales quota methodology and customer segmentation and targeting. Identify strategic pathways with organizational structure and design to foster business continuity and sales force effectiveness.
  • Identify and partner with IT to plan large-scale technology initiatives to enable commercial alignment between sales and marketing and achievement of sales goals, activities and process (e.g., business intelligence platform standardization across marketing and sales, Salesforce.com, Javelin Territory Designer, etc.).
  • Advise executive sales leader on all strategic concerns including annual operating plan, forecasting, commercial operating plan, plan of action, quarterly business reviews, P&L and sales enablement trends.
  • Builds strategic partnerships with internal executive level management to ensure mutual calibration between the internal organization and commercial selling organization to accommodate voice of customer.
  • Recruit, coach and develop organizational talent while fostering a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential to achieve organizational objectives.

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant Sales, Operations, Marketing, and or Finance experience with 8+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 13 years of relevant Sales, Operations, Marketing, and or Finance experience with 8+ years of managerial experience


Nice to Have

  • 5 + years of sales operations
  • 5 + years of experience in Sales Planning and/or Operations
  • Masters’ degree
  • Able to work independently and effectively on cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated success leading change in a dynamic environment
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Must be able to multi-task and adapt to the ever-changing requirements of a dynamic company
  • Must be able to periodically work weekends and evenings
  • Inventory management and demand planning experience
  • Ability to develop strong relationships in a matrix organization
  • Advanced excel, powerpoint and data analytics skills with high level corporate presentation experience
  • Broad management and leadership knowledge to lead multiple job areas, and detailed functional and operational expertise
  • Financial Skill – working knowledge of P&L

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$204,800.00 - $307,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
