POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is seeking an entry-level Environmental Technician to join our Eastern Biology Department. The position reports to our Columbus, OH office with the ability to work remotely from within the state of Ohio.Employees may travel to a POWER office for periodic meetings.
Roles And Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist with field assessments for wetland and ecological projects located in the Midwest while offering support to projects across the country. The position involves supporting wetland and waterbody delineations, organizing and summarizing field-collected data, compiling survey reports, and drafting permit applications. This role may also include intermittent environmental construction monitoring and reporting tasks. Field work may require long days outdoors in variable weather and terrain. Projects require frequent overnight travel to various locations throughout the region. Candidates must be physically prepared to work in difficult conditions and be eager to become a critical part of the POWER team.
Responsibilities Include But May Not Be Limited To
Supporting wetland and waterbody delineations
Supporting habitat assessments or wildlife species surveys
Organizing field-collected data and compiling survey reports
Implementing health and safety plans and coordinating schedules with internal staff
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or another related field
One (1)- two (2) years of experience conducting ecological surveys or working in field conditions
Strong analytical, time-management, and problem-solving skills
Commitment to quality with solid attention to detail and organizing data and reports
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience with GPS data collection systems
Knowledge of the 1987 Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineations Manual and appropriate regional supplements
Exposure to the Clean Water Act Section 404/401 and the Endangered Species Act (ESA) regulations
Experience writing technical reports or permit applications
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Must be willing and able to travel throughout the Midwest. Up to 60% travel is expected
