Job description

Position Overview:

MMG Real Estate Advisors, a leading multifamily advisory firm, is looking to expand our research capabilities by hiring a detail-oriented Research Analyst. This role is crucial for enhancing our advisory services through meticulous, data-driven research and analysis. Our Research Team serves as the backbone of our consultancy efforts, providing MMG Advisors with the insights and intelligence necessary to guide property owners through the complexities of the multifamily market. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with our two seasoned Research team members, providing essential support that helps expand their capacity to work closely with advisors. By assisting in the analysis of market trends, demographic shifts, and economic indicators, the Research Analyst will play a key supporting role in furnishing our advisors with the insights and intelligence needed to deliver strategic, bespoke advice to our clients. This support is vital in empowering our advisors to forge strong relationships with property owners, aiding them in maximizing their property’s potential and fulfilling their investment objectives. Core Responsibilities:

  • Market Intelligence: Conduct thorough market research to identify and analyze trends affecting the multifamily sector. Provide MMG Advisors with insights into market dynamics, investment opportunities, and potential risks.
  • Client-Specific Analysis: Tailor research efforts to the specific needs of MMG's clientele, assessing market conditions, competitive landscapes, and investment viability to support client-specific strategies.
  • Quarterly Market Insights Production: Partner with the Research colleagues to develop comprehensive quarterly reports on key regional multifamily markets. These reports will emphasize fundamental aspects such as supply and demand dynamics, rental and occupancy rates, transaction volumes, and key economic indicators. Additionally, they will analyze demographic trends, including household and population growth, income levels relative to rent and homeownership costs, and other critical metrics. These insights will provide valuable data to support strategic decision-making for our clients and stakeholders.
  • Development Pipeline Analysis: Collaborate with Research colleagues to generate detailed quarterly pipeline reports. These reports will provide a comprehensive overview of the multifamily development pipeline. They will highlight stages of development, delivery schedules of units, and implications of supply trends, offering critical insights to inform strategic planning and decision-making of our clients.
  • Advisory Support: Develop reports and presentations that distill complex data into clear, actionable insights. Support MMG Advisors in crafting strategies that align with client objectives, enhancing their capacity to deliver expert advice and consultation.
  • Collaboration with Advisors: Work closely with MMG Advisors to understand their needs and the challenges faced by property owners. Ensure that the research and analysis provided are directly applicable and beneficial to client consultations.
  • Innovation in Research Methods: Stay at the forefront of research methodologies, leveraging the latest in data analytics, visualization tools, and technology to enhance the quality and impact of research deliverables.
  • Industry Analysis: Monitor and report on industry developments, regulatory changes, and economic indicators that could impact the multifamily sector and the interests of our clients.


NOTES:

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Co-author white paper reports under the direction of the Director of Research
  • Present to internal advisor network, the findings and relevant trends and news that affects the multifamily industry
  • Assisting in producing blog/short form content relevant to multifamily industry
  • Development of a weekly compilation of articles, reports, papers and blog posts from across the industry (and beyond) that arms our advisor network with all the latest industry news prior to them calling clients.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Academic and Professional Background: A Master’s degree is ideal; however, a bachelor’s degree in real estate, Economics, or a closely related field is also acceptable. Applicants should ideally have 1 to 2 years of experience in commercial real estate analysis, with a strong focus on the multifamily sector. Additionally, experience in related financial services fields, such as private equity, that correlate with commercial real estate will be highly regarded and beneficial to the role.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Microsoft BI, ESRI, or relevant Python libraries for data analysis is ideal. Candidates should demonstrate exceptional analytical and quantitative skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Communication and Presentation Skills: Strong writing and verbal communication abilities are crucial. Candidates must be able to distill complex concepts into clear, actionable insights and simplify complex data for diverse audiences, supporting advisors and informing clients.
  • Strategic and Analytical Insight: The capacity to synthesize market data into strategic advice is essential. Candidates should have a keen ability to provide MMG Advisors with the insights needed to deliver high-value consultancy to property owners.
  • Collaborative Team Player: A proven track record of working effectively within team environments, supporting colleagues, and contributing to a culture of excellence. Must be capable of juggling multiple projects simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Innovative and Curious Mindset: Candidates should display an innovative and curious mindset with a strong interest in data exploration, trend identification, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement in the field of commercial real estate analysis.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • The position is primarily office-based, requiring prolonged periods of sitting and computer work.
  • Requires regular engagement in both written and oral communication, demanding high levels of comprehension and articulation.
  • May occasionally involve light physical activities, such as bending and lifting materials up to 10 pounds.
