Location: United States. This role is eligible for remote work.

Compensation: The annual salary range for this role is $89,000-$124,000 in addition to equity & benefits.

The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target depending on the location of each candidate. In addition to location, other factors including level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience will determine compensation.

The Team & Role

Gem is looking for a Senior Accountant to manage financial systems and own all financial reporting and full-cycle accounting operations. You will work closely with the Accounting Manager, Controller, VP of Finance & Head of Operations. This role is an incredible growth opportunity for aspiring Controllers.

What You’ll Do Day-to-Day

  • Oversee and process day-to-day accounting activities, including but not limited to: revenue accounting, accounts receivable, cash management and general ledger maintenance
  • Monthly and quarterly close process to ensure accurate results are delivered and reported timely in accordance to GAAP.
  • Posting daily cash activity, preparing journal entries, account reconciliations and fluxes.
  • Semi-monthly payroll processing.
  • Develop and execute processes for effective collections and dispute resolution.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Customer Support teams to reduce days sales outstanding (DSO) and enhance credit and collection strategies.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key customers, addressing concerns and resolving escalated issues proactively.
  • Revenue recognition and lease & sublease accounting.
  • Preparing financial statements for investor relations and internal decision-making.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to help drive key initiatives & process improvements.
  • Quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Assist with investor reporting, internal and external audits, and tax filings.
  • Other special ad-hoc projects as assigned.

About You

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, CPA or CPA Eligible, MBA a plus.
  • 1-3 years of Big 4 experience strongly preferred.
  • 1-2 years of startup accounting experience a plus.
  • Netsuite experience.
