What you’ll be working on:
Overall accountability to ensure the equipment in multiple Central Processing Centers (CPC), Warehouses, and ABPs, such as conveyor belts, balers, distribution chutes, forklifts, crates, strapping machines, etc., is kept clean and in good repair. Ensures adequate on-hand parts inventory in each facility at all times. Directs and supervises the work of Maintenance Supervisors. The Maintenance Manager, Offsite Processing Centers is guided by the Savers Vision and Core Values. Reports to the Director, Offsite Processing.
What you have:
Facility Repair and Maintenance Oversight:
- Supports and directs Maintenance Supervisors in the maintenance and repair of each facility’s machinery and equipment. Monitors each facilities’ performance.
- Develops, implements, and updates schedules, policies, and procedures for safety inspections and preventive maintenance programs. Perform quality control assessments on facility visits.
- Works with Facilities Management on preventative maintenance schedules and follows up on completion.
- Develops, implements, and maintains standard operating specifications for equipment across all facilities. Communicates any changes to specifications as required.
- Acts as the gatekeeper across all facilities to ensure all performed equipment maintenance logs are completed and filed, whether completed internally or by outside vendor.
- Reviews all machinery failures and malfunctions for root cause learnings.
- Supports on-site supervisors with emergency repairs and troubleshooting as needed. Will escalate issues to the appropriate party as required in order to minimize downtime.
- Provides resolution on escalated maintenance, repair, and custodial issues with either the General Manager, the I&O department, Facilities, Safety, or other SSC departments as the situation requires.
- Ensures Maintenance Supervisors are following through on all custodial duties and tasks. Inspects quality of custodial maintenance on facility visits and course corrects as necessary.
Parts Inventory Management:
- Ensures each facilities’ part inventory is being properly controlled and accounted for.
- Plans and manages a facility's parts inventory budget.
- Inspects each facilities parts room is clean, organized, and uniformly set up.
- Oversees all facilities inventory lists. Investigates root cause of missing parts.
- Reviews quarterly audit of parts inventory completed by Maintenance Supervisors to ensure required parts are in stock at all times.
- Reviews timely ordering by Maintenance Supervisors.
Leadership & Development:
- Proactively plans staffing needs, recruiting, selecting, and training all Maintenance Supervisors. Works with other managers to identify talent.
- Regularly interacts, trains, coaches, and counsels the Maintenance Supervisors, and team members. Provides recognition and candid feedback. Addresses complaints and solves issues.
- Identifies and develops high potential team members for supervisory and management positions through on-the-job, guided work.
- Role models and maintains a respectful, values-driven workplace that adheres to all Savers’ Policies and Procedures.
Safety & Loss Prevention:
- Maintains a safe work environment through education, consistent follow up, ensuring policies and procedures are in adherence, and supporting the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).
- Ensures certifications and training of Maintenance Supervisors is current. Schedules training when required.
- Protects company assets (including parts inventory) and information by ensuring their safe handling, security, and integrity.
- Proactively promotes loss prevention awareness by ensuring an accurate inventory for parts, upholding procedures and ensuring policies are in place.
- Communicates safety and loss prevention issues to the General Managers and Director, Offsite Processing.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to read and write.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and/or verbal form.
- Ability to reason, make decisions, and use independent judgment in various situations.
- Courteous, with good communication skills in both verbal and written forms.
- Ability to observe, assess and coach the work of others.

- Mechanically inclined and hands on. Not afraid to ‘get their hands dirty’.
- Computer skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Excel. Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) an asset.
- Highly proficient in the use of various tools, test equipment, and service information.
- May be required to obtain specific certification(s) at the Company’s expense, as needed.
- Frequent written communication is required to and from other managers via the use of apps and or text messaging.
- Knowledge of Programmable Logics Control (PLC), pneumatics, conveyance, is an asset.
- Must possess/obtain a forklift trainer certificate.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
Minimum Required Education, Training and Experience:
- Trade or mechanical certification preferred.
- Results-driven industrial supervisory/managerial experience (external candidates).
- Must possess/obtain a forklift trainer certificate.
- May be required to obtain specific certification(s) at the Company’s expense, as needed
- Sound knowledge of industry-specific equipment.
Physical Requirements:

- Must be able to occasionally lift and carry products weighing up to 50 lbs. Rarely pushing and pulling of carts and other conveyance weighing 50 to 250 pounds using 4 – 10 lbs. of force.
- Occasional reaching out in various levels/directions to inspect/handle equipment, perform maintenance and janitorial tasks, train/coach/counsel other team members.
- Possess dexterity for complex hand-eye tasks, including keyboarding, writing on documents/forms, equipment inspection.
- Occasional standing, frequent walking and stair climbing, stooping, bending, grasping with hands, and twisting and frequent kneeling needed to handle &/or inspect equipment, perform maintenance and janitorial tasks, train/coach/counsel other team members.
- Continuously required to read written & electronic documents.
- Frequently exposed to hazardous machinery (compactor, baler, forklift, conveyors, robots), solvents (cleaners, detergents), radiation (Microwave in break room), frequently exposed to dust and frequently exposed to temperature fluctuations.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Minimal down-time of each facilities’ machinery.
- Ensuring Maintenance Supervisors meet all scheduled and preventative maintenance intervals as dictated by equipment manufacturer.
- Ensures accurate completion of all maintenance logs across facilities.
- Cleanliness of all facilities.
- Maintains healthy, positive communication with outside vendors and the internal leadership team. Able to clearly communicate where problems lie and respectfully push back to leadership when critical priorities are not being addressed.
