Job Title: Specialist, Material Planning for Production Phase

How you will contribute:

As a Material Planning Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the planning, procurement and inventory of materials necessary for our Broadband Access portfolio for GA products. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that the right materials are available at the right time, quantity, quality and at the right cost during the production volume life cycle. This position is key to steer the extended Ciena teams to collaborate for the success of the portfolio revenue stream and profitability.

 

·       Analyze demand forecasts, sales orders, and production schedules to determine material requirement once GA and ramp is achieved.

·       Develop and implement material planning strategies to optimize inventory levels and meet production requirement service performance indicators while preventing stockouts or excess inventory.

·       Collaborate with cross-functional teams, as product line management, procurement and logistics, to ensure timely availability of materials and leverage suppliers’ capacity & capability.

·       Participate in cross functional meetings with planning, scheduling/fulfillment & suppliers to ensure delivery performance. Lead expedite requests and support customer account team inquiries.

·       Via Kinaxis tools, reports and other systems; performs “what if” analyses to optimize capacity and exceed 95% of service performance and customer satisfaction.

·       Identify and work with senior planners on cost-saving opportunities and inventory reduction strategies.

The must haves:

·       Bachelor's degree in administration or supply chain management.

·       5-10years experience in material planning, inventory management, or procurement.

·       Knowledge of supply chain processes; demand forecasting, production planning, and logistics.

·       Digital literacy and proficiency in Supply & Demand systems as Kinaxis and ERP systems.

·       Flexible to work with different time zones, 1-2 days per week.

·       Strong attention to details, ability to triangulate to detect anomalies.

·       Adaptability to changing business needs and technology evolution, multi-tasking and ability to prioritize tasks.

·       Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.

·       Excellent communication & collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams internationally.

·       Strong supplier relationship management skills and business acumen.
